I would give this hospital a zero if it was possible.. All the emergency department staffs are so chill that they don't even care about the patient. I saw two patients coming to ED because they cut their hand and they were bedding to death but were told to stay in a chair for an hour, doing nothing.
My experience:- My friend was admitted to this hospital for 3 days.. First, in the ED, there was a JMO doctor, (which I found from Google, that she is an intern) who was very rude and was acting like a specialist, she always did the wrong thing and provided us the wrong information even she didn't know, we always had to ask the other doctor, and then came to know the different thing. My friend needed an antibiotic through IV, she was not feeling well and needed an immediate response, they put the time to 15 mins, but my friend felt very dizzy after that and we told the JMO. DOCTOR Lady to increase the time frame to 30 mins or more, she was like no we cannot do that.. Later we asked other emergency specialist and he did it.. Each and every time we need to chase them instead of waiting for them to report us about our report and health condition.
Later JMO doctor told that the patient need to be admitted in the hospital, but we requested her that we need to talk to specialist to finalise and know about the procedure and then she denied and claimed herself as a specialist. It was very frustrating that if it was not in the middle of night at 1 am, I would have left the hospital and looked for another one..
According to the specialist and doctor, we were informed that the antibiotics need to be provided in an interval of 8 hours, but every time they were delayed for some reasons, sometimes by 2 hour or even 4 hour. I will never visit this hospital again, and won't advise anyone else to visit as well.

*Emergency Department experience*
Not sure what’s the point of having an emergency department when the staff is not able to assist on urgent basis. Even though my wife had a GP referral letter for urgent examination it took 2.5 hours for our turn which is ridiculous, I was feeling absolutely helpless as I kept watching my wife in absolute pain & agony. I appreciate there is sometimes limited capacity in ED but there needs to be some alternative immediate relief team if there are too many people. More importantly the management really needs to screen the front line nurses who takes patients history as feel they have absolutely no clue what they are doing. I had one nurse Vikram who kept denying what GP suspected based on my wife’s symptoms and kept us on low priority while lying us that we would be called soon, after 2.5 hours when my wife health further deteriorated I tried finding Vikram only to find out that he was gone for the day and left us hang in the middle, so I had really stressed the other nurse for urgent attention and she quickly took my wife to the doctors for examination. In the end my GP was right and the hospital did confirm the same condition after thorough examination & tests which my GP suspected (hence his letter for immediate attention). I wonder what would have happened if we had kept relying on Vikram who was using google to find out what’s happening with patients. The management should urgently look into Vikram’s credentials and screen him wether he is the right fit for the job

So far have found the staff very helpful , kind, especially in the ED. Considering they are dealing with so much all at once, I wish to say thank you for making me feel so comfortable when I was in alot of pain.

This is the worst hospital I've ever been to. My wife gave birth but the nurse did not help her. She has been unable to sleep for the past 2 days because she was depressed after giving birth. I asked to come in to take care of her. But not all let me in. required to be on time for hospital visits. Although this is an emergency, the nurse said very loudly. don't let anyone rest. I advise everyone if pregnant to give birth in another hospital. my english is not good I use Google translate. sorry for confusing reading

Came to Bankstown "hospital" with excruciating abdominal pain. They eventuay took my vitals but left me laying on the emergency room chairs in a fetal position. Luckily I took a taxi to a neighbouring hospital and there I was quickly diagnosed with an inflamed appendix and given morphine. I was put in a bed and eventually got operated on.

BEWARE: Stay away from Maternity ward! The worst ever hospital with extremely careless, heartless, and rude midwives. Just had a baby there few days ago and was treated like a peice of s. The midwives are clueless. They have absolute no idea what to do and on top of that are utterly rude. Twice failed vacuum attempts followed by forcep delivery after an extremely long labour i was shifted to the ward.
No follow ups or checks were made since then. Baby went 12 hours without a nappy change because I could not move in excruciating pain while the midwive simply refused to help and said 'you're the mother you should be changing nappies". I asked for a wheelchair to go to the bathroom and they refused again saying it will take hours to get one so get up yourself. The midwives literally were yelling. I cried and screamed in pain but the heartless staff did nothing for me. I am traumatised after the experience I've had there. My family made a complaint but no one had bothered to get back to us. Midwife named Gifti was a complete torture to be around she did nothing but degrade you, was always in a bad mood and angry for helping. Then she would go and write false notes about you that other midwives would come and mention back to you. These people are bunch of amateurs playing with your lives.

I give 5 stars based on the caring staff who look after many people despite lack of space and resources. From the Doctors, nurses, orderlies, cleaning and catering staff they were all kind and considerate.

My wife - a grieving mother - is in shock and referred as an URGENT EMERGENCY to Bankstown hospital for "immediate treatment". There, she is incorrectly briefed for her procedure - she *specifically double-checks* because this seems odd.
Subsequently, she is blamed for the hospital's mistake, then admitted with an unclear schedule and isolated from family, alone, deprived of food and water - unable to grieve, not even allowed to be with her husband or have her phone for TWO FULL DAYS.
Utterly unnecessary - the procedure required 6 hours without food and 2.5hrs of treatment yet she was alone sobbing uncontrollably while they admitted her, kept her isolated without any comfort, continually misinformed both of us of the schedule (we even caught them lying - a nurse admitted telling us a timeframe she knew wasn't true!?!) delayed from the morning into the night, then continued into the evening of the following day!!!!
We lost our child, and this is how they cared for our grieving family - the psychological trauma we've endured defies description.
All this after we opted to use our private health fund to benefit the hospital. F@&*%^$!
Never. Ever. Ever let your loved ones near this nightmarish place. It is hell on earth.

The staff at bankstown hospital are amazing. Particularly in the intensive care unit. They are doing an amazing job of lookin after my mum and have done so on many occasions. Keep up your great work.

Although the facility has issues, the personell are outstanding. Most of the services work well. I am grateful for the way I am.being treated.

Very overcrowded hospital, very busy, some of the staff are amazingly rude towards older patients. The press has hammered them recently over some news worthy mistakes. I'd personally think twice before taking a family member here.

The absolute worst hospital I've ever been to. And I've been to Fairfield hospital before. From the staff at the emergency entrance the lack of information the nurses give you. I wouldn't bring my worst enemy here. It's just so poorly managed/staffed.

If you don't like helping people and looking after the sick. Find another job!!! Most miserable looking place I've ever been to it's just unfortunate that the emergency happened so close to this hospital and we had no other choice. Actually based on this 4 hr wait with a patient who has overdosed on prescribed medication. I could have gone somewhere else.

If you can AVOID this bad excuse for a hospital

I have heard lots of horrible things about Bankstown Hospital but we had both of our daughters there and there isn't a more professional midwife than the one we had. She is very calm and patience. She guided us through the whole process and delivered both of my daughters in a smooth and relaxing manner. If I can, I would nominated her to be the best midwife of the NSW public health system. A job welldone. I am Sorry that I didn't ask for her name but she is about 40-50years old with a Japanese accent.

Called customer service to enquire about something. A very rude lady answered and said in a very rude manner " look everything is closed you're gonna have to call back tommorow" and proceeded to hang up in my face.

User

very unprofessional, i would be worried if my life was in a critical condition and my life is in the hands of uncomptetent doctors/nurses. The nurses are just not rude to the patients but also rude among themselves. They dont know anything and when they do a referral they dont do it right and scew you over because they dont know what they are doing.

User

This place must be stopped. repeatedly getting patients information incorrect, lack of knowledge and staff in emergency are so cool, calm and collective whilst people are bleeding to death. unacceptable. is this where our tax dollars are being spent on? 👎

User

Nursing staff is helpful but overall doctors and very slow to appear in emergency. My wife had serious medical problem and had to wait in Ambulatory care for 4 hours until a surgeon appear to see her. They admitted her after seeing her condition and she was giving antibiotics for 3 days and was released from the hospital with zero improvement. She was asked to visit specialist after 3 days.

As soon as she came out of hospital, her condition re-surfaced and now again have to go to he emergency and wait for few hours, until a doctors appears.
