Basil Pizza And Pasta (Permanently Closed)

very sad and disappointing experience. not from sydney so coming to newtown is a treat with so many vegan options. brought the whole family this time (10 people) 6:30 booking; food arrived somewhere around 8:30. understaffed, poorly managed, service terrible and my pizza arrived cold and dry. they didnt charge us for a couple orders that arrived wrong which is why they get one star. management also laughed in my boyfriends face and claimed to not speak english when he voiced our collective disapointment. this place has really gone downhill and ill be surprised if it lasts much longer. one table gave up and left while we were waiting for our order, and three new tables cleared out as we were paying when they overheard our terrible experience. wont be back ever again. steer clear and spend your money elsewhere.

Never in my life have I experienced such pathetic service.
The food is great. mind you I made reservations at 6:30pm. The food arrived after 8:30pm. And the order was wrong.
I will never again in my life come to this disgraceful establishment and I hope you all read this and make the educated decision to avoid it at all costs. trust me, you can refuse my advise and come to the same conclusion, or you can realise Once upon a time I would race about how good this place was. But not anymore. I'd rather watch titanic on repeat for a week while stick skewers into my eyes and drinking formaldehyde through a bendy straw.

Showed up to order. Tables hadn't been cleared for some time so I cleared rubbish off a table for myself. After being ignored for 15 minutes I called out at the counter for someone to take my order. I then sat down to wait. 45 minutes later when it still hadn't arrived, I approached them for an ETA, only to find out they had forgotten to place the order, and I had been waiting around for nothing. Gave up in disgust and walked out.

I used to LOVE this pizza place. I would recommend it to all my friends and they loved it to. This was years ago however and after trying it again recently I am so so disappointed.

Garlic bread was more salt than garlic bread, pizza is so bland and tasteless that it's like eating cardboard. If I was to hand this pizza to a homeless person, they would throw it back in my face.

I called to ask if the owner was new. They told me they got all new managers. Told her my issues with their pizza, the rude response was "Okay, that's fine. Thanks, bye." So another Sydney favourite -RUINED. Such a sad moment.

The overall feel of the restaurant is a takeaway shop but the pizza tastes good.

For a pizza it will cost around $25 -$27 so it is a bit pricy but you will pay that at any pizza place on this street that isn't dominos or a kebab shop.

Service wasn't that great and they forgot the garlic bread.

Overall I probably wouldn't go back. I could overlook the faults if it was cheaper.
