Batemans Bay Yha

Read the reviews and almost didn't book here.. I think they are for the cabins as I inspected the dorm rooms before paying and they are decent! The backpackers area itself is good there's a common area and it also has a decent kitchen with lots of utensils / pots and pans.

The place is a little tired but everything is clean and works ✌

Stayed 2 nights 10 & 11/10/17. Was out of season so very few people here. Nicely placed just far enough away from the highway so that the noise isn't a problem. I walked everywhere as I'm only on foot but having a car here would be much better. Is 20 mins walk to Woolworths or McDonald's easy so not in the centre by any means. The cabins are basic but clean and I slept very well. The swimming pool isn't anything special but the showers and toilets are very well kept. Good for solo travelers as a stop off traveling to Eden or Canberra. Would recommend.

Decent facilities, a good base to explore stunning beaches around Bateman's bay.

Where do I start,

1)Unwelcoming staff
2)damp room
3)cold at night (5 layers needed)
4)Open air showers
5)chewing gum in showers
6)box of dirty cutlery (needed washing before use)
7)door to trailer could be pulled open even when locked.
8)poorly maintained pool (probably could get hypothermia)
9)long walk to any beach (if you don't have a car it's game over)
10)cooking facility's not up to standard
11)photos on walls from the past decade not updated
12)VHS player (free to borrow from reception only before 9:00pm)
13)no wifi (or you have to pay extra for it)
14)vertical speed bumps that will destroy your spine/car
15)dirty beds and smell in room

So in general it was colder and more uncomfortable than staying in our packed Nisan the night before. Most certainly not up to the standard of the YHA's I have stayed in.

This is a very outdated hostel. The four bed 'ensuite cabins' are caravans with no heating (even though it says there is on the website) and were freezing at night. The bed sheets had mysterious stains and the door lock could be opened simply by pulling on the door. The showers, toilets and communal cooking area were good although the cutlery they give you in a box were dirty, and so required cleaning before use. The only positive was the price but I would definitely not stay here again.
