Beachwatch monitors and reports on beach water quality in the Sydney, Hunter and Illawarra regions and works in partnership with local councils along the NSW coast.

When we began, Bob Hawke was Prime Minister, Milli Vanilli were topping the charts and more than 1 billion litres of wastewater was being discharged onto Sydney's coastline each day. Things have changed a lot over the last twenty-plus years - especially at the beach - and we've been keeping track.
