Reviews
It's a great thoroughfare for a little bit of nature and fresh air, but the inconsistent footpaths, the stronghold of homeless tents and a somewhat perpetual husk and ibis invasion plagues what would be an entry point to the city from Central station. There is a nice touch of greenery that's well maintained, but something needs to be done for the unsightly props that dot around the outskirts.
Central location. Good go r a quick rest
reminds me of an old South Brisbane park before they turned it into an entertainment zone - where the original aboriginals stayed like in the old times - Belmore Park feels like one of those.
The straight-line diagonal path through Belmore Park between Pitt/Hay St corner and Eddy Avenue where commuters cross and enter Central Station is heavily used so should be no threat at night except for the small possibility of being accosted by a drunk/homeless tent dweller asking for money.
I don't go there very late at night - not sure what time the trains stop - but like most urban parks - if there's no-one else around - use your commonsense and maybe avoid dark places with trees people can hide behind - but this place is usually busy when trains are running I expect.
I remember, this used be very good park to have lunch for office workers or people waiting for public transport. The long term homeless residents have made the place unpleasant. Life is not easy for everyone and there is nothing wrong with being homeless until I found out from a colleague who cooks for the homeless people at Belmore park that some are there by choice. For example, some have turned down public housing and some have good savings to rent. I know one of former clients suffered from psychosis and lived at Belmore park when I saw him there one day.
Nice park by day. Lay in the sun, people watching.
Homeless in Tents lining the edge of this park but are never a worry and stick to themselves.
Whilst the park itself can be quite stunning at times (especially during Autumn as the leaves fall and blanket the ground), there's quite a number of homeless people living in tents on either side of the park, and some sleeping of a morning on the park benches. They don't cause any trouble, but don't go to this park expecting rainbows and unicorns.
This park is a symbol of NSW governments greed. The poor homeless are all over the park in tents while the government has closed up a lot of homes for the poor and give freely to the super rich and rich overseas developers. More and more homeless are in the park. They should be given a fair go. If you walk past spare a thought for these good people
Needs a good clean. Additionally, more security is required. Just a place to walk through to And from Central station.
Well, it's not a place where you'd spend a day with your family. Good enough to walk your dog tho...
Good park just outside Central station!
Decent place to chill out with a cup of coffee. Right next to the central station. Just wish it had free wifi.
