I needed a new kettle. I knew the brand/model number I wanted and I knew that Bing Lee stocked them.
I drove up the steep ramp to the customer parking spots. All spots were occupied with staff cars. I had to find parking on the street and walk back to the store.
I saw the kettle I wanted on the display but there was no stock of this model in the boxes under the display. I asked a staff member where they might be, and he replied, "They're there somewhere." He then walked away.
I waited for another staff member to help me find this kettle. He checked his computer and told me that they were waiting for stock to arrive, I could buy the one on display, but with no box. I reluctantly agreed.
I offered cash for the purchase. No, they don't have facilities for taking cash upstairs, so I had to wait until he took my money downstairs for the transaction.
He returned, plopped the kettle on the counter and thanked me for the business. There was no offer of a bag to carry my purchase out of the shop.
It was a most unpleasant shopping experience.
