About Blacktown City Animal Holding Facility

Blacktown City Council operates an Animal Holding Facility (AHF) for a number of Councils in the Sydney Region for stray, lost or unwanted animals.

Blacktown City Animal Holding Facility Description

Blacktown City Council's Urban Animal Management Section administers legislation governing companion animals in order to keep our community safe, free from nuisance and to assist owners in being reunited with their lost pet. Council acts primarily as a regulatory body not as a welfare agency.

The AHF acts as a holding facility for other Councils in the Sydney region, including:

- Auburn Council
- City of Canada Bay Council
- Holroyd City Council
- The Municipality of Hunters Hill
- Lane Cove Council
- Parramatta City Council
- The City of Ryde

If you have lost an animal in any of these council areas, you can search Council’s PetsOnline website to see if it is being held at the AHF: http://services. blacktown. nsw. gov. au /petsonline /

Unclaimed animals at the AHF may be available for adoption through an Expression of Interest process. Visit the Adopt an Animal page for details: http://tinyurl.com/nprfk7l.
