What is Kinesiology? (kin-easy-ology)
Kinesiology by definition, is the study of movement, especially in relation to humans. Kinesiology as utilised by complementary health practitioners, employs the use of gentle muscle monitoring to identify imbalances in the body’s structural, chemical, emotional and spiritual systems. This is based on the premise that the body has its own innate wisdom, which can be accessed via biofeedback (muscle testing) providing the practitioner with information regarding the integrity of each bodily system, assisting in identifying the person’s priority healing needs.

The following definition was approved by the Australian Kinesiology Association 1999. “Kinesiology encompasses holistic health disciplines which use the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s well being. Originating in the 1970’s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual. "

The practice of Kinesiology incorporates techniques from a variety of disciplines which enable the practitioner to address the body’s healing needs on a variety of levels. Procedures include the use of client centred counselling, acupressure, energetic healing, body psychology, structural and postural work, homeopathy, nutrition and Vibrational healing such as; colour, sound, essences and crystals. This approach strives to bring awareness to deeper patterns underlying the symptoms, enabling the client to begin the healing process. The use of muscle monitoring provides useful feedback to the client as an indicator of changes that have taken place as a result of procedures employed throughout the balance.
