Boongala Native Gardens and Rainforest is an 11 acre property located in Kenthurst, NSW. These extensive gardens have been developed over a number of years by Mal and Jenny Johnston. The property also includes a lush rainforest, which has been maturing for the last 25 years. When you visit Boongala you will discover a wide range of Australian plants, wildflowers and the birdlife they attract.
Boongala Gardens is a great place to spend the day with your family. There are tables and chairs available to those who would like to have a picnic lunch within the gardens (no BBQs please).
A large range of native plants are for sale on site at the gardens. These include bird-attracting, rainforest and bushtucker plants. These plants are available in various sizes (tubestock and larger).
Boongala Gardens is also available for wedding ceremonies, school excursions, group visits and other functions. Please refer to our website for more information.

Some beautiful Banksia Coccinea flowers we are using in some Table Arrangements at the moment.
This section of our garden shows Great Balls of Fire with bright coloured foliage in front, next is Grevillea Lollipops with pink flowers, Native Frangipani with yellow and perfumed flowers, red foliage at the far end is Pink and Red Flowering Gums.
Calistemon Burgundy Jack, a great bottlebrush that will grow in most positions in the garden.
Grevillea Flamingo attracts the Native Birds and Native Bees to our garden. The flowers last well in bunches and table arrangements.
Our Native Monstera (Epipremnum pinnatum) has an interesting flower.
Our Grevillea Elegans is full of Honey Eaters at the moment. Recent good rain has prolonged their flowering time.

Our Rainforest is looking great after the recent heavy rains.
Plenty of colour in this display of Kangaroo Paw. The flowers look great in Table Arrangements and Bunches.
The recent rains have certainly brightened up the garden. The purple Pigface and Kangaroo Paw are at their best.
Our Stingless Native Bees ( Tetragonula Carbonaria ) are out and about, love the warmer weather. This is a rescue hive we saved after a dead tree was cut down, causing it to smash on the ground. They are thriving after we rebuilt their hive.
Plenty of Kangaroo Paw starting to flowering our gardens. This is Anigozanthos Yellow Gem which we like to use in our flower arrangements.
Our Native Flowers really brighten up our day.

This is Grevillea Betty's Delight which we propagated from a seedling and named after our friend Betty Rymer. Small to medium shrub.
The ellusive Eastern Whipbirds can also be seen by visitor's to our gardens. This photograph was taken by Marilyn Coventry at our gardens recently.
