BORN was conceived in the spring of 2015 on the Central Coast in NSW, Australia.

Ex-Sydney based Mark Patrick ran MPagency, a highly-regarded premium lifestyle agency, for over 2 decades before relocating to his property (Tall Gums) at MacMasters Beach.

After 3 years of tending Tall Gum’s 1-hectare garden, travelling to India, Japan and Vietnam plus accepting the occasional PR campaign, Mark grew bored with the idyllic life of semi-retirement and sought to pursue new avenues.

The 1st was an ongoing series of TAKEOVER dinners at the iconic Woy Woy Fishermen’s Wharf restaurant, where young Sydney & Hunter Valley chefs man the burners for a weekend once a month.

Chefs from accoladed restaurants such as Momofuku Seiobo, Mr Chow and Pilu at Freshwater have drawn the hipsters and empty nesters crowd that make up a lot of the Coast’s most interesting people. Encouraged by this surprisingly diverse and laid back group, Patrick looked around to see what was missing in the retail market and voila – BORN became a seed.

Mixing his collection of antiques, table-top treasures, objects trouvé, vintage linen and glassware with quirky finds from his many years of travel, Patrick has birthed an eclectic mix of home wares.

An old friend - Joan Bowers, who for 4 decades has been working in Northern India with artisanal villages, is showcasing her current collection of bedding and children’s wear. The Chiang Mai porcelain collection conceived by Colin Davies is a perfect celadon green that suits all settings.

Famed artist James Gordon presents his whimsical paper sculptures and watercolours. Award winning children’s artist Louise Pfanner and local artist Jacinta Sullivan of Muskwood Design plus photographer Jackielyn Powell rounds off the diverse mix of works on offer. Patrick has curated the space into an intimate gallery on a very busy intersection at Kincumber.
