Boundless Beginnings With Elizabeth Carr Description

Early Childhood Music:
Boundless Beginnings Early Childhood Music is a very special program developed by the Suzuki Method for babies and pre instrumentalists. The program develops the skills that will enable little ones to go onto learning an instrument and a life long love of music.
These skills will assist them in future schooling (listening, taking turns, accepting help from the teacher) as well as develop skills that will assist them to be expressive socially, while developing emotional intelligence, paving the way to a wonderful experience of life.

It is the elements that go beyond the music that are the greatest benefit. Children who grow up with these skills and attributes grow into fine adults who are empathetic, sensitive to aesthetics, emotionally expressive, and who have a fine ability to think beyond the box and make confident decisions.

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. " Aristotle

What is the Suzuki Method?
The Suzuki Method was founded by Dr Suzuki who recognised that every child successfully learns to speak their own language, in their own environment by listening, observing and practicing at an early age. He realised this was the magic recipe to learning and started his method that taught music in the same way that little ones learn to speak their mother tongue.

How is it different from other programs?
Boundless Beginnings is different from any other early childhood music I have seen, as the emphasis is not to entertain, but to rather develop fine musical ability and fine human character in a calm supportive environment.
In the Little Ones program (6mth-3yrs) there is often only one instrument used at a time. One child at a time will get the opportunity to make their way to the teacher, have a turn, accepting guidance from the teacher and treating the instrument with respect, and then return the instrument when they are finished. This act in itself develops confidence, security, autonomy, respect, decision making. . . . . and the list goes on!
In the Preschool lesson (3-5 yrs) we build upon the foundation that was firmly set in the Little One’s program by introducing more opportunities to perform ensembles, solos and trios etc. Listening skills are developed through listening activities, developing a beautiful tone when playing instruments and distinguishing instrumental and rhythmical patterns.
There is always a musical, emotional and social skill being developed behind all activities in the Boundless Beginnings music classes.
Are parents involved?
Yes yes and yes ☺ While you get to observe your children as they learn, you also get the opportunity to join in and be a wonderful model for your little one. You can support them by singing, joining in enthusiastically, and giving little ones big proud cuddles after they have had a turn.

Piano Lessons are taught with the same philosophy in mind at the early childhood lessons:
"Character first, ability second"- Dr Suzuki
What this means is that the relationship with the teacher, the childs relationship with their parents and their relationship with the rest of the world is just as, if not more important than their relationship with their instrument.
If the child has a kind heart, they will be able to develop sensitivity to hearing beautiful tone. This will lead to the ability to play with beautiful tone. To play with their heart and express themselves.
