Yes we can do clip ons! Many of our local artists can either design clip on earrings just for you, or convert a pair in the gallery. Which is what happened recently when one of our favourite artists @felixsees converted this pair of oxidised silver and gold earrings for a customer. Yet another benefit of supporting handmade and small local businesses. It's called customer service! . . . . .... #cliponearrings #alterations #bespokejewellery #handmade #shopsmall #shoplocal #shopsmallbusiness #shopsmallau #shopsmalllove #jewellery #design #creativethinking #goldandblack #earrings #goldearrings #oxidisedsilver #inspiredbynature #jewellerylove #longearrings

EXHIBITION OPENING DRINKS WEDNESDAY 10th OCTOBER 6-8pm
'rethinking value: the essence of time', exhibits the documentation and the goods and services that were offered in exchange for vessels produced during the 'Year of Time' project.
... In 2017, contemporary jewellery and object artist, Bridget Kennedy spent a year tracking time stitching 60 small, handheld, woven vessels to represent the physical manifestation of a calendar year of time at 1/30th scale. Basketry as a medium was chosen as the materials are also usually very cheap, highlighting the value of time above materials. The resulting three-metre installation, ‘A Year Of Time 1:30’, portraying the passing of one calendar year and highlighting the labour of the handmade, was exhibited for sale at the end of 2017. On the base of each basket, a silver disk was stamped with the labour time, first in minutes to make the work, and second, the total lifetime that elapsed, a multiple of 30. The individual objects could then be ‘purchased’ by exchanging either the equivalent amount of the purchasers own time or in monetary currency, at the value that the buyer considered their own time to be worth. Exchanges were negotiated and time was shared. Any cash that was received was then made into a ‘currency basket’.

Medium brings together Vernon Bowden and Sean O’Connell to explore the power of objects and matter to evoke meaning.
Through gently manipulated materials and an extension of his wearable work, Sean examines place and it’s overlapping natural and social concerns. These concerns draw heavily on the past, as well as siting themselves in the present, and extending into the future, as hopes of what place should be. From the endemic ...flora and fauna that erupts in the forests of rural Tasmania where Sean has recently moved, to the roads that cross between towns, the streaming of water down ridgelines into the sea, or the imposed lines of cadastral parcels and plots of land, there is the feeling that “place” brings together all worlds – that it folds across our sense of self amidst a range of natural, social, historic, and economic landscapes.
Vernon explores the thingness of objects; the nature of our relationship with artefacts. In a world full of stuff, what is the role of object makers (broadest sense) in artefact creation? In a throwaway culture – where planned obsolescence is obsolete – marketing and influencers instantly fetishize valueless tat. Why do we empower matter with value beyond its functionality, abstracting objects into keepsakes, symbols and relics? When does detritus change into historical artefact? At what point does a mythic symbol turn back into a shiny gewgaw? Can object makers move post-object?
Artist Talk with Sean O’Connell – Saturday 20th October 2pm. Join Sean as he compares living in rural Tasmania with Sydney and how the history and layers of place that he’s have found on his property have affected his practice as a maker.

Free drinks on opening night: 20th September 6-8pm
Installation piece, multimedia, dimensions variable “We are all interconnected through the fabric of time, the entanglement of space, and the molecular structure of matter and particles that weave and shape our ‘Mulitverse’. I am investigating how we could visualise and pictorially translate that cosmological fabric or ‘Multiverse’ through drawings, natural matter and coil woven objects, to form a multilayered visual landscap...e that poetically asks us to look down at the infinitesimal details of nature, and feel the beauty and poetry that quietly surrounds us ‘every –when’.” – Michele Morcos
Michele Morcos will be working on coil weaving and drawing projects in the gallery for the day and will be talking about her work and giving demonstrations on the techniques and ideas that run through her multimedia art practice. Saturday 22 September, 11-4pm

In light of the power games happening in Australian parliament at the moment I thought a post of these pins by conceptual jewellery artist Vernon Bowden appropriate. Vernon often explores policitical and social issues in his work. Titled 'Little Wars' this installation of brooches explores boyhood, nationalism and war. Each of the brooches is formed using 3d printing and contains a little 'bovine manure' driving the tank...... 😆😉 $36 each or three for $90. DM me for colours. ...Free postage for orders of 3 or more just for today cos I need to feel good about something! Forget the boys wars happening in Parliament at the moment and have fun creating your own little battle on your lapel. . . . . #boysgames #antiwar #politicaljewellery #politicaljewelry #artjewelry #artjewellery #getonwiththejob #playingpolitics #thegamespeopleplay #contemporaryjewellery #contemporaryjewelry #brooches #lapelpins #3dprintedjewelry #3dprinted #tanks #tankbrooch #mensaccessories #menswear #colours #political #makeastatement #unisexjewellery #politics #jewelry #3dprintedjewellery #bijouxcontemporains #schmuck @ Bridget Kennedy Project Space
