Mission Statement

Bright Gems Childcare (‘BGC’) strives to provide the community with an affordable high quality childcare service, with our dedication at surpassing national quality standards prescribed by the National Childcare Accrediation Council Inc. Our mission is to provide a stimulating early care and educational experience which promotes each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. A mission that creates life-long learners.

Philosophy Statement of BGC

BGC endeavours to create a “family-like” atmosphere by recognising the importance of creating a link between home and the Centre. Under this philosophy, guardians are asked to work alongside BGC educators to develop the child as a whole, accordingly creating a mutually supportive, consistent and caring learning environment.

We embrace cultural diversity, respecting family’s diverse values, beliefs, cultural backgrounds, traditions, life experiences and knowledge. Families are encouraged to share their culture, language and experiences with educators to further support their child’s individual needs. We also liaise with and utilise existing resources in the community, collaborating with all stakeholders to generate a uniformed Centre. We believe that by uniting with guardians and the wider community BGC may further enrich the child’s learning capabilities by establishing an accustomed environment for the child to learn and continually grow as valued individuals.

At BGC we acknowledge that each child is unique with individual interests, values and beliefs. As a result, it is our belief that children mature and develop to their full potential in an environment that both embraces and supports diversity and difference. We prioritise spontaneous and interest based learning, and maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive approach to family and community values and beliefs.

Bright Gems aims to promote and sustain children’s natural innate sense of curiosity in a stimulating, caring and play enriched environment. We view play as central to learning and development as it provides children the opportunity to safely explore in a comfortable and self-directed environment. We base our programming and planning practices upon the Australian Government Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which coincides with our philosophy where respect for individuality, difference and play provides optimal learning circumstances.

The staff members at BGC are educated and experienced in providing a caring, approachable and educational working environment. All staff value and respect one another and the contributions they make to create a cohesive team. We recognise our responsibility in ensuring and maintaining current workplace policies and procedures.

We acknowledge the original custodians of this land. We believe in a supportive and proactive approach to our environment and encourage educators and children to establish respect for the land, nature and animals. We continue our journey towards a sustainable future for the wellbeing of all in the community. We are both aware and conscious of our carbon footprint and continue to look for ways in which to minimise our effect on the environment.

We will regularly evaluate the service of our Centre to ensure the needs of both internal and external stakeholders are being met. In addition, guardians will be well-informed of the Centre’s future plans.
