Pickup location is convenient. The car they provided was new and in great condition. Aside from that, the pickup experience was not a good one. We booked through Expedia and all the booking details were not on the system. 2nd driver was missing. Then they blocked my card for a deposit amount (no mention of this during the online booking process), and couldn't give me any receipt of that transaction. The girl I spoke to was utterly useless with the conversation going round and round in circles as if I was speaking with an automaton. In the end she said, "well we are a large company with a good reputation". I was exhausted from 15 hours of travel, so I just left it at that.

Next, they wanted to me to sign a vehicle inspection report without having seen the vehicle. This should be illegal, and I'm sure the report would be invalid in a court, however this was another headache a weary traveller does not need.

Lastly, they knew nothing of the insurance I had prepaid and was holding a receipt for, and tried to charge me for more insurance. In the end I refused to pay double insurance, and the person at the counter tells me I have five thousand Australian dollars excess if there is any vehicle damage.

Not at all impressed. Dealing with this company felt totally dodgy, and I wouldn't do it again. My work involves constant travel and I rent cars about 20 times a year, all over the world.

This is the worst experience I ever had from a car rental by orders of magnitude.

Would definitely not use Budget Car Rentals again.

Don't know why the hell you have a phone if you don't answer it! I've been trying to call since 6am non stop and it's now 10am! Horrible customer service! I understand you have walk ins etc but 4 hours and no answer that's a joke!!!
