About Building Trades Group Drug & Alcohol Committee

The BTGDA Committee was established in 1989 and in 1992 the program received the initial federal funding to deliver workplace awareness training in Alcohol, Other Drugs and safety. The workplace intervention provides the referrals and pathways into treatment for the construction industry. In1994 the Construction Industry Alcohol and Drug Foundation (CIDAF) was established and Foundation House officially opened on the 24 July 2000. Foundation House provides effective and accessible alcohol and other drug treatment services and support to the construction industry employees and their families. The BTGDA and CIFAF are committed to providing high quality training and support services to the building and construction industry, in respect of subcontractors, employers and employees, in particularly in light of the additional regulatory requirements in place in respect of the management of drug and alcohol issues on construction sites. Both organisations are uniquely placed to understand the structural and cultural features of the industry that can impact on positive outcomes. The Building Trades Group Drug and Alcohol Program (BTGDA) have been working with construction industry employers and workers on drug and alcohol matters for nearly 20 years. The BTGDA strives to improve workplace safety, by providing relevant and effective workplace training and education across the entire industry. The BTGDA is also committed to providing relevant up to date Alcohol, Other Drug and Gambling, health and wellbeing, education, training, referrals and treatment pathways to the construction industry.
