GEOGRAPHIC

The Ashfield LAC is located within the Inner Metropolitan Police Region, covers an area of about 19 square kilometres and is situated 8km south west of the Sydney CBD. We are bordered by the Commands of Marrickville, Leichhardt, Burwood, Campsie, Hurstville and St. George.

Ashfield LAC includes the local government area of Ashfield and part of Canterbury local government areas. The Command takes in the entire suburbs of Ashfield, Haberfield, Summer Hill, Ashbury, Hurlstone Park, Earlwood, Dobroyd Point and Undercliffe, as well as parts of Croydon, Croydon Park, Campsie and Canterbury. These areas are mainly made up of residential premises with some light industry and retail space.

DEMOGRAPHIC

The LAC has a population of about 72, 000 persons consisting largely of those from an English speaking background (about 60% ). Of the 40% from a non-English speaking background, about 12% have their birthplace in a ‘Asian’ country (including China, Vietnam, Korea, Philippines, Malaysia) and about 13% have a birthplace in southern Europe (including Italy, Greece and Lebanon).
