All drivers of public passenger bus, motorcycle and 4-wheel drive tour vehicles must be authorised under the Passenger Transport Act 1990.

To drive a public passenger bus, a driver must:

Hold an appropriate Australian driver's licence enabling them to drive the specified size and weight of vehicle, for which they are seeking authorisation.

Bus Driver Authority Application Process:
TfNSW requirements for drivers to be issued with a Driver Authority Card they are required to pass:

A Medical
Be subject to a Police check
Have their driving history reviewed
Demonstrate that they can communicate in English
Complete an Authorised Course
