We are now an NDIS Provider
Bushinkan Description
Bushinkan is a school that practices the Japanese self-defence of Aikido which relies on technique not strength, blending with the opponent and using their own momentum against themselves.
Aikido has the ability to offer more than self-defence by offering a holistic approach to life which is referred to as “budo” (ie. : a set of moral values), which is a long term (years of) activity, or journey, of physical and cognitive self-improvement.
All martial arts apply the same basic principles. The difference is the way each school /style applies those principles. Ultimately, all martial arts have the same outcomes /benefits as listed below. At Bushinkan, we are:
- Non-Confrontational
- Non-Competitive
- Cover weapons use and dis-arms
- love to have FUN
Because Aikido requires working in pairs it can assist with developing a number of positive characteristics such as:
- Awareness
- Confidence
- Self-Discipline
- Fostering cooperation & respect of others
There are also the physical aspects of improved:
- Agility
- Reflexes
