Call for community feedback on Employment Lands Strategy
How much land should be allocated for industrial, retail and commercial purposes across the Byron Shire? Where? And what should it look like?
These are some of the questions Council is seeking feedback on from local businesses and the wider community as part of the draft Employment Lands Strategy, which is on public exhibition for six weeks until 21 September, 2018.

Big response to flood survey
Byron Shire Council’s Flood Engineer, James Flockton, is congratulating the community on its response to a recent flood survey that was designed to get local input on flooding in the Brunswick River, Marshalls Creek and Simpsons Creek catchments.
“We received 339 completed surveys which is a great effort on the part of the community and it will give us some solid information to use in the development of the new North Byron Floodplain Risk Manageme...nt Study and Plan,” Mr Flockton said.

Have your say on the Draft Pest Animal Management Plan in Byron Shire
Byron Shire Council is inviting feedback from the community on a revised draft plan to manage pest animals in Byron Shire. Mayor, Simon Richardson, said the draft Pest Animal Management Plan looks at the problem of pest animals and ways to address and manage the impacts of pest animals primarily on Council-managed land particularly in the areas of prevention, eradication, containment and asset protection.

NBN works in Brunswick Heads
The NBN recently advised Council that its contractors will be doing night work in Brunswick Heads from 23 August – 3 September and this information is on our website. Council recommended that NBN make contact with businesses and residents to let them know the work would be taking place.
Several people have since contacted Council about the timing of the night works including work done last night.
... As Council does not approve work done by the NBN could you please call (02) 9468 9700 with any questions or complaints.
In the meantime Council has contacted the NBN about the concerns that have been raised.

FREE HELPING LEARNER DRIVERS BECOME SAFER DRIVERS WORKSHOPS
If you're like me (I'm currently teaching my third child to drive and you'll know what I mean when I say there have been some honest and forthright discussions in the Honda) you might find this course helpful.
It's a FREE, two hour workshop developed to help parents and supervisors teach with confidence so they can help learner drivers be safe on the road.
... The workshops include information about license conditions for learner and P plate drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and the importance of providing constructive feedback.
