“Something of a renaissance woman… Somehow she achieves the almost impossible in blending patterned western-ed pop writing with the earthy mystique of African rhythms and freaky world instruments.” – Sydney City News
This Sydney based singer songwriter is known not only for her unmistakable voice and songwriting, but for playing the 21 string West African harp, known as the kora. Miriam draws her influences from far and wide – having most notably spent long periods of time st...udying traditional music in West Africa.
Her songs seamlessly blend African influences with folk infused melodies. In essence, they are a collection of stories, beautifully told through strings, powerful lyrics and her emotive voice. Playing kora as well as acoustic guitar, Miriam is joined by exceptional string players – violinist Lara Goodridge (FourPlay/ Baby et Lulu) and Susie Bishop. Adding their sublime strings and lush vocal harmonies, there is a chemistry between these musicians and their instruments that melds into a soaring beautiful soundscape.
