About Care Coasties Against Rubbish In Our Environment
C. C. A. R. E. Central Coasties Against Rubbish in the Environment. Community initiative to drive public comment on the issue of littering our reserves & beaches
Care Coasties Against Rubbish In Our Environment Description
CARE is an open group, formed by local businessman Bruce McLachlan and resident Kay Wall, seeking a change of attitude to the perceived right to leave litter behind on our Central Coast beaches, reserves , waterways, and open roadside areas.
It is not Council , or the Ratepayers job , or financial burden , to clean up litter and plastics , that ultimately wash into our marine environment , after being blatantly left behind in our public spaces by visiting tourists, and local residents alike.
.
We live in a beautiful part of the world and our local Councils provide free public reserve and picnic areas. People should be made accountable for their litter, and respect our natural environment.
The community can no longer tolerate plastics and rubbish washing into our lakes, rivers and beaches.
We are seeking >
Public Awareness and Community discussion on the issue.
Education through increased warning signage, and finally Enforcement of the existing Litter Laws of NSW.
Founders Kay Wall , a resident of The Entrance , was originally from Kiama , winner of Tidy Town awards , and had seen first hand what a concerted Community and Council effort can achieve. Kay approached local realtor Bruce McLachlan of McLachlan Partners for assistance in her efforts in raising public debate, and C. A. R. E. was formed as a forum for discussion and lobby mechanism to bring a change of stance towards littering our parks and waterways of the Central Coast.
Bruce McLachlan enlisted the support of Cr Lyn Webster and was successful in raising the issue with Council. A motion was carried to enforce the max fine, as a min, even for first offence, for any persons caught littering in Wyong Shire.
Please post your suggestions, and we will lobby the politicians for change .
