CareWays Community and our partners are once again holding the annual FREE family fun day for NAIDOC at Koonawarra. We will have a plenty of awesome stuff, watch this space!

Community Food Drives - WE NEED YOU! Were you thinking of holding a food drive before Christmas this year? CareWays Community have FREE community pantry's available at Koonawarra Community Centre & Thirroul Neighbourhood Centre - Careways all year round that would love to get stocked up by some generous donations. Donations can be dropped Monday to Friday 9am-5pm at Dapto Neighbourhood Centre within the Ribbonwood building 93-109 Princes Hwy Dapto

This Thursday and Friday at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (IPAC) is Blue Rose-an interactive sensory installation for all ages and abilities. Come and browse, wander and play to gain an insight into the experience of people who don't use verbal language as their primary way to communicate.
Thursday 9:30am-8pm and Friday 9:30am-6pm and its FREE! Also on Thursday and Friday are a number of fantastic workshops.

Scam Alert - We have just received this scam alert from the ATO.
Currently, a new version of the ATO Scam is doing the rounds.
Scammers are calling victims and claiming to represent the ATO. The scammer then conference calls a second scammer who claims to work for the victim’s tax agent. Working together the scammers try to convince the victim that an outstanding debt needs to be settled immediately, often through the use of gift cards, Bitcoin, or similar unorthodox method...s.
Be vigilant for any suspicious phone calls and warn your friends and family to be aware of this scam, especially if they use a tax agent.
If you have any doubts about a call you receive, don’t hesitate to hang up and report it on 1800 008 540.

Today is Indigenous Literacy Day! It is a national celebration of Indigenous culture, stories, language and literacy, aiming to focus our attention on the disadvantages experienced in remote communities and encourage the rest of Australia to raise funds and advocate for more equal access to literacy resources for remote communities. On a local level we encourage everyone, particularly our indigenous community, to come along to Horsley Community Centre or Koonawarra Community Centre and grab some books from our free community library (no need to return them, we just want people to have books!).
