Carla Karan Pilates And Personal Training Description

Carla Karan is a qualified Pilates Practitioner and Personal Trainer conducting matwork Pilates classes and equipment sessions in Manly West. Mat classes are 75 minutes in duration, and are limited to only 10 participants per class to monitor individual progression and ensure a safe environment.

Classes are suitable for all age and fitness levels, with particular benefit for those requiring rehabilitation or supervision due to injuries. Carla is also trained in Pre and Post natal supervision.

Simple equipment such as fitballs, light hand weights, therabands, balance discs and rollers are often introduced into the classes, and time is spent stretching out muscles to relieve tension. Beginner levels are always the foundation of classes, so new students are welcome to join a class at any time. Advance exercises are then built upon for those clients who can competently perform the movements.

Pilates equipment sessions involve repertoire on the Trapeze Table and Reformer and run for a duration of 45 minutes, at the Manly Studio only.

Carla’s classes aim to teach you a technique of training your body’s stabilizing muscles using the Pilates Method. These muscles are deep within the body’s trunk and pelvis and support the joints of the spine, pelvis and shoulder girdle. Carla teaches you how to use your stabilizing muscles to work first in isolation, and then as a control centre as movements in functional patterns are introduced.

Carla’s focus is on muscle control and movement technique, with an emphasis on body awareness and joint position and posture. Carla encourages smooth, flowing movements at a moderate uniform speed, requiring concentration and emphasis on correct breathing patterns. There is a progression from stable to unstable positions to challenge the core muscles and postural alignment.
