At 3 weeks old, Piko and his brothers were on their way to the pound, until we intercepted and quickly took them home. While his brothers thrived with all the love, warmth, and food we piled onto them, Piko was the runt of the litter and was severely malnourished.
At such a young age and without their mothers, kittens like Piko don't stand a high chance of survival. They need constant care and observation and even then, you're both fighting against all odds.
Piko almost didn'...t make it. One day, he went from life of the party to limp and cold on the floor in the space of ten minutes. I wrapped him up in a blanket, grabbed a syringe with kitten formula I just happened to be making at the time (for the seventh time that day), and huddled us up in the heated bathroom until we could get to the vet.
After an overnight stay and with diligent vet care, Piko had recovered and came back home. To be honest, we were all surprised he pulled through but he began to fade again that night. On the vet's advice, all we could do this time was be with him, keep him warm and hydrated, and see him through the night. There may have been some storybooks too.
By the morning, Piko had fully rebounded and was back to his normal, crazy, feet-obsessed self. He never again had trouble like that and, in fact, went on to outgrow his brothers... by the size of him now, you may even think he ate one of them.
Having been raised by us (and four dogs) from such an early age, we knew they'd all be the perfect fit for Catmosphere. So once they hit an appropriate age, they left our nest and landed in our other nest, where they are having the time of their lives (especially with people's feet).
It also doesn't hurt that we get to see them all the time. <3

A cat cafe isn't for everyone. But for some, like it was for Duncan, it's heaven.
We couldn't be more honoured to have had this memorial bench donated by those who loved Duncan the most and it will always serve as a reminder of why we do what we do; connecting cats with those who love and respect them.

The evenings are spent in the emergency ward though.
Paws up if you like watching movies, drinking milkshakes, and being too polite to move a cat that's just settled onto your lap, even though you're busting to go to the toilet?

The politest cat in the world?
In my experience, cats just turn up one day and declare they live here now. 😸
After trialling Cat Cinema with some cat-mad adults and perfecting the experience, we're finally ready to introduce Family Friendly screenings!
These experiences are suitable for kids 5 years and over and provide a comfortable environment to watch a movie amongst some of the best cats you'll ever find (especially great for those who haven't had much exposure to cats).
Light snacks are provided before the film starts, a Caramel Popcorn Milkshake (vegan option available) while ...you're watching, and comfy bean bag seating are all inclusive of the two and a half hour cat cinema experience.

A great option for those who can't have cats, or if you just want a coffee with a difference. The cats were pretty chilled out at the 11am session. Not a great deal of seating, but it is a small space. You can smell cat poop, but every effort has been made to keep it out of view. And to be honest, cats poop. It's what they do. I wouldn't advise taking small children here, though.
