Charly

Founded in late 2011, Charly Designs is a collaboration between Chantelle Baistow and Carly Vickers. Both Chantelle and Carly are design graduates of the College of Fine Arts, UNSW. Since graduating they have worked in various fields including graphic design, interactive design, furniture design, exhibition design and design education. During their time at CoFA Chantelle and Carly studied Graphic and Object Design but of greatest importance to the Charly collaboration is their shared love of Ceramic Design. Having studied Ceramic Design together under the direction of notable Sydney designers Jacqueline Clayton and Rod Bamford, Chantelle and Carly share a passion for ceramic materials and the unique qualities they can offer when making by hand. The Charly collaboration is based on a shared vision to create modern designs while staying true to traditional ceramic techniques. Charly is fresh; we are a new collaboration and we are excited by the possibilities. Charly is curious; we like observing the world around us and finding the quirks to inspire our process and products. Charly is quality; we believe in making things to love and making things to last. Charly is considered; we are always asking who, what, why and how? Charly loves materials; we like to work to the strengths of our materials and bring out their unique characteristics.
