We came for dessert at 10.30pm and the waitress who seated us obviously expected 9 people to order more than we had as she was laughing and mocking our table the whole night and evidently told her wait staff mates as we received a very extravagantly sarcastic ‘thanks’ as we walked out.

I've tried Chat Thai before during the Noodle Markets but it was the first time I went to their restaurant itself. Food was delicious, however the athmosphere isn't the best. Loud, crowded, can barely have a conversation. Also they expected us to pick our food at a very dim light by the door before sitting down to our table. I get that there are a lot of customers, but still, it feels a bit like a conveyor. I would go back though, because the food was indeed good.

had a very upsetting experience which has turned me right off. I always order the snapper fillets in red curry paste, so was surprised when waitress brought out a whole fried snapper. I told her I didn't order whole fish, she said I did, and pointed at the menu at the item above. This was midnight, the prices were the same ($24) so I decided not to argue and eat. Fish was fine, but then they charged me $32, and said I ordered the more expensive whole fish, When I said I wasn't happy as the order was screwed up in the first place, they made it out to be my fault, for not sending it back. Completely didn't care that as a customer I had been wrongly blamed on 2 counts. No apologies, just a shrug. The food is good but perhaps more than a touch of arrogance. Not going back.

Absolutely delightful dinner. We had curry, crab omlette, crab spring roll, fish cake, prawn cake, morning glory and pineapple rice. We are very happy with all the dishes we had. Everything was delicious. The portions are big so don't order like we did.. I'll say one dish per person is more than enough. Oh and the milk tea is to die for.

My wife favorite place to order Thai Sweet Potato Balls. Tasted sweet, chewy, and awesome! Really a nice snack. I love the Red Curry Paste Pork Belly. Really intense and delicious at the same time.

Busy restaurant - naturally, wait staff tries to clean up the table quickly after so that you get the hint to move on. Prawn tom yam, pad Thai, papaya salad, fried doughy fritters with coconut sauce & iced coffee are recommended. Some dishes has strong flavours, sometimes a little too much as compared to other places. We get super thirsty after a meal here.

Really love the food here. Always visit Chat Thai whenever o travel to Sydney. The place is rather small and pack. The food quality is not constant, can be too salty, can be too spicy, can be too plain. Depends on the chef mood i think. Well, Always long queue for the seat. However, the wait are all worth it for the taste.

The Crab meat fried rice, tom yum soup and the coconut milk with pearl desserts is a must.

Great place for a late night eat after work. The service is ordinary but the food will arrive fairly quick. Food is really good, nice bold and flavoursome Thai flavours and portion sizes are filling. The price is also reasonable, about $15-30pp depending on how much you eat and what you order.

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere.The menu is extensive with so much variety and the food was just delicious(just amazing food). The staff are friendly & super efficient, helpful. The service was faultless.

Lunchtime there's normally a line- so if your doing lunch I suggest you plan on getting there just after the rush...
Everything on the menu is tasty and fresh- and dishes come out quite fast.

I've never left a bad review before in my life but I was really disappointed tonight at Chat Thai. I wanted to order a small soup to go but they told me customers cannot order small dishes to go. Okay fine, I sat down and ordered two dishes. I sat and ate for 20 minutes and then when there is still much food left, I ask for a takeaway container. They bring me one but 5 minutes later they take it back and tell me I am not allowed to take my food home because it is "special". So my food has gone to waste. Why? There is no reason. I even offered to pay for the container itself but the staff refused. I work at a Chinese restaurant and we would never allow this. The food, ambience etc was good but the policies need to be rethought.

Went there at almost midnight, great food, totally recommend this place. The CS rose was absolutely delightful with the food we had. Will definitely come back.

I went to the Chat Thai - Haymarket today. Frankly, I am very disappointed with the customer service. First, the guy who is the usher asked me if I want to share seats with other customers and I said : "No", he then asked me to wait outside while I was looking at some food on the glass display. I found it as a rude gesture of him. Then, when I got my seat I was going to order the food, the waiter didn't show a good customer service, she didn't say anything/greeting. The only words she said : "yup, yup, and yup".
I found this issues everywhere, why is it very hard for people in customer service businesses to show their customer service skills.

This was my second time at Chat Thai and it definitely did not disappoint. This is one of the best Pad Thai I have ever had and it was a large portion. The green papaya salad had just the right amount of spice and heat. It has such a cozy atmosphere with neat decorations. The service is also really fast. It gets really crowded at dinner time but it is worth the wait!

Savoury food is great, the dessert is amazing!! Definitely a must try. It's very busy though so go early to get a table!
