The Newtown Good Food Fair is on again this Sunday 14 October from 11am in Newtown Square and Eliza Street.
More than 30 local legends will create their culinary masterpieces that when combined, showcase the foodie destination that Newtown has become.
Presented by the Newtown Precinct Business Association (NPBA), the fair includes fundraising initiatives to support the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. A donation buys a cuddle with animals at the Kindifarm at Newtown Square, or... you can submerge a Newtown local in the dunk tank.
For the first time, the fair has received a grant from the City of Sydney in recognition of its contribution to the social cohesion of Newtown. “[It’s] testament to the caliber of the event and demonstrative of how we come together as a community to celebrate the vibrant and unique Newtown scene,” said Liz Dickson, NPBA Vice President and Event Manager.

The new Country of Origin Labelling requirements became mandatory for most foods on 1 July this year, however foods considered low priority, such as highly processed confectionary and snacks, tea, coffee, alcohol and other beverages are not subject to the CoOL legislation.
At a Country of Origin Labelling Roundtable on 2 May, attended by McDonalds, Subway, KFC and Domino's, the major fast food outlets agreed to put country of origin information on their websites and apps, giving their customers the chance to choose Australian.

Eastern Suburbs Motorists-Digital Driving Licence Trial
The digital driver licence is the electronic version of the NSW Driver Licence available on your phone. It is planned for release across NSW in 2019, and designed to be convenient and make life easier. With a regional trial already in progress in Dubbo, and a metro trial in Sydney's Eastern suburbs scheduled for late 2018, driver licences will soon be added to the list of digital licences available through the Service N...SW app. A digital licence allows you to view, show, update and renew your licence. No need to visit a service centre or wait for your plastic card in the post. By November 2018, licence holders, NSW Police and people checking licences in Bondi, Bondi Junction, Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee, Randwick and Waverley (or postcodes 2022, 2024, 2026, 2031 and 2034) will be invited to take part in the metro trial. The digital driver licence will only be accepted by participating licence checkers in these postcodes. This trial is in addition to the current Dubbo trial. The trial will test the convenience and functionality of the digital driver licence. It will also help identify any changes that may be needed to support the statewide roll-out in 2019. To participate in the trial, if you haven't already, you will need to create a MyService NSW Account, link it to Roads and download the Service NSW app. During the trial you will still need to carry your plastic driver licence card

Stress Down Day
Spending some time outdoors, lending a hand to someone else and taking a moment to be grateful are all ways people in NSW can take part in Stress Down Day today (24 July).
The annual fundraiser is organised by Lifeline to encourage Australians to reduce their stress levels. NSW Mental Health Commissioner Catherine Lourey said the day is a welcome opportunity for people to pause and think about their wellbeing.
... “When we have a sense of purpose, are socially connected and supported, and can fit some physical activity into our day, our wellbeing tends to be a lot better.
“Doing things for other people and spending time in nature are also really good ways to reduce stress and improve our wellbeing.”
Take a look at your day and see if you can swap something that might be adding to your stress for something that will boost your wellbeing, like leaving work on time to catch up with loved ones or turning off devices and getting outdoors.
