Asymmetry? Could that be causing your back pain, calf tears and ongoing niggles?
One of the most common things we see is significant discrepancies between left and right when it comes to strength, length and endurance of muscles! Can you see the difference in this patients calf bulk and resting leg position (indicating weakness or tightness in the pelvis!). Be sure to add some single leg and arm work into your workouts to ensure they’re both within 15% of each other!

The scapula, or more commonly called the shoulder blade forms part of the ‘shoulder girdle’ and its position is intrinsic in the function, stability and range of the neck, shoulder and upper back! ⬆️When it sits too high it can cause neck and shoulder pain, numbness in the arm, tingles in the upper back and neck stiffness ⬇️ Sitting too low can cause a drag on the mid back causing shoulder blade and mid back pain, as well as pain as far as the elbow! ↪️ Sitting out too far... can cause pain in the front of the shoulder, contribute to rotator cuff tendinitis or wear and give you pain and tightness across the chest, shoulder and neck.

Keep tearing one hamstring? Have one “good” leg and one “bad” leg? A question to ask yourself: 💪 Are they equal in terms of strength and muscle bulk?
A large number of the torn hamstrings we see are SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than their counterpart! Particularly on eccentric (lengthening) strength! This is where a good recovery followed by an amazing rehab plan kicks in to gear- settle it down and then prevent it from reoccurring. Food for thought! 🧐

Scoliosis is a 3D curvature of the spine. Most cases are mild but some cases can continue to worsen throughout puberty changing shoulder, waist and hip heights from left and right, altering the position of shoulder blades and reducing the space within the chest.
While most forms of scoliosis are mild, in more severe forms it can cause compression of the heart and lungs, and chronic pain.
The Physio’s at City Physio are well versed in treating people with scoliosis (and even... those post scoliosis stabilisation surgeries!). Treatment can include localised muscle releases to balance and unload the spine, dry needling of overactive or tight muscles and specific strengthening exercises to stabilise the spine, shoulder blades and hip muscles! This assists in minimising the progression of any curvature, helps with pain relief, and can help improve function and range of movement!

Shoulder blades- pretty bloody important! They form one part “Shoulder Girdle” and provides an attachment for a handful of shoulder stabilisers and movers... and when they’re not sitting where they should, nothing around the shoulder works quite how it should!
Here we have Mary. Ongoing tingling and pain down the right arm to the elbow. Treated by another Physiotherapist (not us!) for TENNIS ELBOW 😱 that, not supprisingly, wasn’t settling! With a quick assessment by Matt it w...as obvious that her downwardly rotated shoulder blade was a big contributor, placing stress on one of the nerves in the back of the arm! 💪 Treatment today includes some repositioning with some light taping (which incidentally reduced her symptoms almost immediately!) and some early phase shoulder stability exercises to re-anchor and re position her shoulder blade!
Not all treatment is created equal!

Posture- eugh, so hard and so much effort. WRONG! All you have to do is stack your head on top of your spine with the tiniest bit of effort! Helps minimise Forward Head Posture, unloads those shoulders and upper back, and assists in preventing headaches! If it feels too difficult then you've overshot the mark. Aim for "lightness"!

Excellent. Very professional. They fixed injury in 4 treatments after two other clinics in city couldn't fix. Had lots of hands on treatment, one-on-one in private treatment rooms. Had thorough assessment, diagnosis explained and rationale for treatment explained. Easy to locate in MLC building.
