This is contentious. Is this socially programmed or is it harder to get some children to help?
Exercise is a complete game changer when it comes to mental health. The research tells us if you do nothing else make a person move! It isn’t motivation that you need just a pinch of discipline, like what you might use to get to work when you don’t feel like it. It also doesn’t have to be a big session of exercise, to get started just 20 minutes of anything that lifts your heart rate. The good thing is no matter how much you don’t feel like doing it if you just start to move your body your mind will follow and you may find yourself moving for longer and enjoying the feeling of being in your body and exercising. Here are some more tips.
Just sharing some interesting reading.
Practising what I preach, I walk/jog/shuffle 5kms on a treadmill most days. I do this mainly for the mental health benefits. It gets my brain chemistry right for a demanding work day, it gives me more energy, lifts my mood and confidence, burns up stress hormones, improves my sleep and keeps my weight manageable. It can get a bit tedious at times and lately I have thoroughly enjoyed reading thoughtful essays from this site Medium. With all the information we have access to these essays nearly always surprise me with some insight I hadn’t considered and leave me thinking differently. Worth a read!

Very caring, friendly and accommodating office staff! My psychologist, Renae Taylor has been a wonderful support for me with my mental health issues and I don't think I would have survived without her help. Mental health illness is one of the hardest things to overcome and also one of the least understood and most judged by others, but at CPS I have never felt as if I didn't have someone to share my load with and I have always felt respected and supported. Thanks Renae, and the rest of the crew!
