Coogee - The Real Thing

Coogee has one of Sydney's finest beaches (some would say it’s the best) and yet is close to all the places you come to Sydney to experience.

Beach culture, bars and cafés is what Coogee offers - Coogee Beach or the 4 saltwater pools, and at Wylie’s Baths you can enjoy the café between lengths of the pool.

Live music can be enjoyed on a Sunday afternoon at Little Jack Horner (bar on the corner of Arden St /Coogee Bay Rd); which is opposite the Coogee Bay Hotel that has multiple bars and a brasserie, plus a beer garden; Old Dave’s Soul, bar and pizza restaurant, has live music most nights at Level 1, 186 Arden St (entry on Alfreda St, on the south side of Coogee Oval). The Coogee Pavilion (169 Dolphin St), which is the new addition to the Merivale collection of bars and restaurants developed by Justin Hemmes. The Coogee Pavilion has restaurants on the ground floor and indoor and outdoor bars over 3 floors including a rooftop terrace overlooking Coogee Beach.

Up the hill, is the Randwick shopping centre and ‘The Spot’ with more bars and restaurants and the art deco Ritz Cinema. From Coogee Beach, it’s 3 kms to the Royal Randwick Racecourse, then another 1. 5 kms to the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) & Sydney Football Stadium (Allianz Stadium). The buses from Coogee Beach will deliver you to shopping opportunities in central Sydney or to Circular Quay so that you can catch a ferry across the Sydney Harbour.

If you want to go to Bondi Beach, you can take the scenic walk along the coastal walkway, passing the historic Waverley Cemetery and cafés at Bronte Beach (6. 2 kms - about 2 - 3 hours), or you can catch a bus to Bondi Junction then down to Bondi Beach.
