Counsel Connect specialises in working with in-house legal counsel to foster best use of business investment in Legal. Poor use of Legal time and resources by non-legal staff is a common frustration for legal counsel. Ideally the non-lawyers in your business would have the knowledge and skills to effectively deal with small matters, to better identify and manage common legal risks and to recognise issues that require legal advice. My mission is to support in-house legal counsel to: CONNECT - Connect with their internal client base, build on existing relationships and establish new ones. LEAD - Demonstrate leadership in managing legal risk by providing clients with greater awareness of legal risks and strategies for mitigating or avoiding those risks. UPSKILL - Develop client's skills to deal effectively with small matters and to recognise larger issues requiring legal advice. In order to achieve this goal Counsel Connect has developed resources to conduct a series of workshops focusing on the practical application of the law to core business functions. Each workshop: • examines the legal principles applicable to that function; • is highly interactive, providing legal counsel with an opportunity to assess and address participants' skills level; • provides strategies for dealing with common problems and risks; and• shows non-legal staff how to work effectively and efficiently with legal counsel. The Counsel Connect approach is flexible and highly collaborative. All resources are designed to be adapted to to suit the needs of your in-house practice and your audience.
