Whilst working a highly stressful job in public service, I found happiness in admiring the creations of artists at local markets and attending creative workshops. Five years ago when I became a mum, I enjoyed going back to the basics of play dough creations, painting and paper mache with my daughter, also time away from the stresses of my previous workplace made me reassess what I REALLY wanted to do. Another daughter later and relocation to Melbourne for my Defence Force Member husband, I resigned from a 16 year career to be full time Mum, part time creator.
Now, Craythorne Lane. My Mums creative abilities have been an inspiration to me with her 'have a go at it' attitude to making and mending, and she has been encouraging me to do the same. Craythorne Lane is located in a village in the Midlands, England, and it's where my mum grew up with her family. Through out life I have always loved listening to her stories of growing up in the Lane, and my business name is my way of paying homage to where I believe that crafty creative slice of my DNA came from.
