Cronulla Sutherland Kayak Club Description

Cronulla Sutherland Kayak Club Incorporated, (founded in 1965 as Lilli Pilli Kayak Club), is one of the oldest and most successful kayak clubs in the Southern Hemisphere. The Club comprises approximately 100 members, ranging in age from 8 to 85 years of age. Members are domiciled predominantly in the St George and Sutherland regions, but many also come from as far a field as the Illawarra, the Blue Mountains, and the Eastern, South Western and Western suburbs of Sydney.

Club members compete in flatwater (marathon and sprint), canoe polo, ‘wild / white water’ down river and slalom events. Club races are predominantly held in the autumn and winter months on the Hacking River from Swallow Rock Reserve, Grays Point. These are flatwater races ranging from distances of 2km to 20km. Each year the Club applies for an Aquatic Licence with the Waterways Authority of NSW to conduct autumn and winter series sprint and marathon races on the Hacking River.
