Looking to blow out the winter cobwebs with some Really Big Kays? Join us and Go For Broke this Sunday for an epic 160km Wisemans/Mangrove loop. Fast and ‘less fast’ groups available - we do recommend you can keep up a minimum average of 25kph over this distance though.
Great training for events like Amy's Gran Fondo and the Bowral Classic, even if you’re not riding GFB!

Took my mountain bike in to install new forks and to pack it into a box for a flight overseas. They did a great job packing it into a box.

HOWEVER, when installing the fork they used an incorrect brake adapter. Result = disc brake rotor is misaligned with the brake callipers, loss of stopping power and brake pads now worn out unevenly.

If I fix this and install the correct adapter myself, I'm not sure if this means I need to buy new brake pads since the existing ones are now stuffed?

I sent them an email, got no reply. Not cool.

EDIT: After writing this review I was immediately contacted, and refunded for the entire fork installation.

Thanks for owning up to the error and doing your best to remedy it.

mmm..I got a full service and had to take it back the next day as it was making a clicking sound. Anyway all is going well in that the chap took it for a quick ride and commenced to work on it. i strolled around the shop waiting and after 10 minutes wandered back to the sales desk and I hear him chatting to another customer. He had moved on from fixing my bike which I had taken back because it was faulty from the day before and was selling a bike to someone else. I had nothing better to do than hang around his bike shop-not!!! waiing and waiting. There were 3 other mechanics he could have asked to finish looking after my bike. Anyway a classic case of how to lose a customer. I will not be going back there!
PS-its still making that clicking sound

Alright, let's face it, if we are scrolling through reviews is usually due to the lack of knowledge and confidence in a website. So was I before I went to their shop just to tie up some back derailleur cable last week.

Before writing further, just letting you know that I absolutely despise going to a bike shop. When I enter a shop, I always end up paying three times the price advertised on their website, when there is any prices at all. The guy generally welcoming me sees in less than a heart beat that I am not from a place of knowledge. This happened in two occasions, once in REID on paramatta road, the other one in Newtown. The funny story about Reid is that I arrived at the door with my 450$ crappy bike, and asked them if I could change the wheels (they got stolen and was using my friends one). A dude behind the counter essentially must have thought I was the biggest idiot in town because he told me I needed to pay 410$, with 40$ maintenance for each wheels (so 80$ just to get a guy putting the wheels on it). I asked for a paper with the list of items and understand what I was paying for, but THEIR PRINTER WASN'T WORKING. The mechanic behind the counter was talking to me by showing his back, like an absolute idiot, and thought I was going to be dumb enough to pay 400$ without questioning anything.

With these guys, it went super smootly. I was scared before entering this shop. All the other shops were trying to charge me "35 to 50$" just to tight up two cables. Cyclery Northside made me pay 10$, with a little lesson of what I would need to do next time if I face the same issue. They told me that some pieces would need to be changed in a few months (my bike is old and crappy) and they gave me some very reasonable prices! 10$ to tight up two cables is the way to go! Down the road, in 99 bikes, they were asking for 40$ and leaving the bike to them for 3 days (ok, fair enough, they looked very busy!).

I live in Newtown, but that's it, never ever again I will go to any other shop asking for help and repair. Those guys were clearly competent and did not try to screw me over.

The take home message here is that it was a great feeling, and if you feel like you've been always cheated in cycling shop, try this one and post something about it please.

I just bought my Roubaix Comp from there. I was able to ride demo bicycles to make the right decision (size & models). I haven't done any service yet but there is people with lots of experience happy to advice. I think this is the right place to get your bicycle, specially if you at planing to upgrade and make a big investment.

Went to the team at Northside to get a persistent creak out of my road bike. Staff were great to deal with, and did a great job of both getting rid of the noise and a general service. Took it out for a spn, nothing but sweet silence! Keep up the great work.
