Dance Theatre of Orange prioritises quality dance education over dance being purely a recreational activity.

I started the school in 2000 with the question of whether it was possible to have a non-catty dance school. Eighteen years later, I can say that as a dance school, we have shown this! While being a NON-COMPETITIVE school, students still feel the thrill of accomplishment through performing at their best and achieving their goals while not detracting from others or putting others down. This results in an energetic, supportive and harmonious school.

We are passionate about being RESPECTFUL. This includes respecting fellow dancers, teachers, uniforms, equipment and the studio community.

We are passionate about students gaining fundamental dance technique. As students progress through the grades, they ACHIEVE a sound technical and artistic grounding in relevant, safe dance vocabulary.

We are passionate about keeping children children. Students dance to music with AGE-APPROPRIATE lyrics and themes; perform movements that align with safe dance practice and good taste; and wear costumes that make them feel special while ensuring their modesty.

We are passionate about keeping it real! We are practical in our approach to teaching, costumes, uniform and the dance industry. We are genuine and SINCERE with our approach, words, interactions and teaching moments.

We follow internationally recognised and respected syllabuses for Ballet (Royal Academy of Dance), Modern (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) and Tap (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing).

All staff members are qualified dance teachers - with a combined total of fifty years teaching experience - or enrolled in a teacher training programme with the relevant societies. All teachers have their Working With Children Check and First Aid Certificate.
