About two and a half years ago, I was on my way to Melbourne to pick up a new car. Its an 8 hour drive, so I left early in the morning in order to have time to explore the Dandenong ranges and get some photos. As I left home Canberra presented a beautiful foggy morning. More snow in Canberra over the weakened, so it was off to one of my favourite spots in the Brindabella mountains, Bendora Arboretum. I had a little more adventure this time. I decided to take a side track in the 4wd. About 20 meters down the track I thought better of it considering the slippery conditions (I had no recovery gear), so I decided to back out. That's when the wheels started spinning and I started sliding toward a ditch on the right. Two more goes resulted in mor...e sliding and spinning of wheels. Third try I decided to go for broke and just gun it. After lots of slipping and sliding I made it out. Three years ago, I took a long weekend and flew down to Melbourne to enjoy a Conference of Australian photographers. It was a fantastic weekend full of information and inspiration. The last day I had an afternoon flight so very early in the morning I drove an hour to the morning peninsula. I wanted to get a shot of Dragon Head rock. What I did do was check the sunrise and tide chart. What I did not do was properly research the location. There is about 200 meters between the c...arpark and the beach with multiple tracks. After wondering around in the dark I finally found a beach. I though I spied a rock that looked like a dragon in the distance. With the sun quickly rising I had no chance but to commit. As it turned out I had the wrong spot. Founded in 1938 Harry's Café de Wheels is an iconic pie cart located in Woolloomooloo, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The café has featured on tv shows such as water rats, Bizarre food with Andrew Zimmern, the Batchelor and the amazing race. It has also been visited by a host of celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Marlene Dietrich, Colonel sanders and Russell Crowe.

I like to keep my photography posts light and happy because its about relaxing and exploring our wonderful world. This one is a slight deviation from that. This is a reminder to be kind to one another, slow down and enjoy the things you have instead of wishing for more. While the world is in a mess, there are still good people around. I spent the morning exploring the tracks in Tidbinbilla Nature reserve and shot this golden fern. On the way home however, I assisted in giving... chest compressions a motorcyclist who had been in an accident until the ambulance arrived. It was good to see how strangers came together to assist.

This is an example of paying attention to your surroundings, especially when you are a photographer. I was out near the Tidbinbilla tracking station in Canberra with my camera set up in the opposite direction as that is where the sun was setting. Nothing was happening so I started to look around. That's when I saw this rainbow. It was actually touching the hill but had started to fade as I repositioned my camera. I have always wanted to do macro photography but could not justify another lens, After seeing the wonderful work on Instagram of @dark_art_macro and the work of talented artists on Instagram such as @ismael_j.s I decided to invest in a macro lens. My purchase did not go to plan, but in the end I ended up with a better lens then I anticipated.
This is my first ever macro shot. Taken at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra. I have to say it is a lot of fun. hope... you enjoy.

Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is 54 square kilometres of protected area on the fringe of Namadgi National park, a short drive outside Canberra It has a multitude of walks and environments to explore with an abundance of wildlife from Kangaroos and koalas to platypus and red belly snakes. One walk I particularly enjoy is the waterfall walk, due to the variety of environments to get to see.
