initially i wasn't that impressed with the after sales service but have since been made aware that as well as moving they have had some significant staff changes. Anyway had a series of issues that another nonsense contractor (laser) couldn't deal with and was pleasantly surprised when Matt turned up at the house to see if we were still having issues. he found and fixed the fault immediately with no fuss or bill. We had our breezaire evap cooling system put in at our place amazing job fantastic service. Glad we went with dawsons with all this hot weather we just had kept the family very cool.👍

Called DHC and asked them to repair my evaporative cooler. They wanted $198 to service evap cooler and investigate faults and quote any repairs beyond service. I agreed to this although it is essentially a fee to quote on a repair as there is virtually nothing to service other clean the cooler which takes 10 minutes. An evap cooler has very few major parts, they consist of a control panel inside the house and the evap unit on the roof has a fan motor, PCB controller, water pump, float valve, filters and a handful of other minor components. There are literally thousands of such coolers on the roofs of Canberra houses, you would think that a repairer would have all the components either in their truck or depot. DHC sent a number of technicians out to look at the unit, none of them turned up at the allocated time, fortunately my partner works from home so she was available to let them in after the first two appointments so I didn't have to come and go from my work multiple times. First appointment I told the technician it might be a faulty control board as it had been replaced 3 years earlier and the cooler is displaying the same issue. He inspected and showed me a faulty capacitor but didn't have the component in his vehicle, I suggested he also check the controller as electrical faults often cause various compoenent failures along the faulty circuit. He went to get a new capacitor and installed it, still the cooler did not work. To cut a long story short (about their multiple trips back and forth), they thought the fan motor was faulty so ordered that in then found out it was in fact the controller that was faulty. None of these components they had in stock and they appeared to have no standard testing procedure to diagnose common faults before (seemly randomly) trying this and that. I give them 2 stars, the first star because they did (finally) fix the fault and another star because they were apologetic and reduced the service fee by $50. They didn't charge for the other visits, nor should they as I expect them to find and fix the fault not learn on the job. An additional star would be given if they had the parts in their van, another if they turned up on time and 5 stars if they displayed a high level of customer service and competancy from the start. Considering the overall experience, 2 stars.
