Let us introduce ourselves. We are two married creatives from country NSW sharing our love for plants. We began Desert Sunday Collective in August 2016 after our favourite cactus broke into pieces during an interstate move from Adelaide to Newcastle. We were devastated at first to see him come off the truck (he even gave the removalist a nasty surprise when he went to pick up the pieces up only to geta hand full of prickles). But with our hopeful attitude of a new season ahead of us in NSW, we propagated him back to life (or as we affectionately say “it made babies”).

During this time, we also lost our beloved Mum, Julie Ann Marsh, to her fight with cancer. Our collection helped us deal with our grief as we spent many hours replanting, loving and nurturing our small plant collection.

Our mum was a keen gardener and she found much joy in her plants. We consider Desert Sunday Collective a gift from her and we hope to spread as much joy and happiness through our plants as her life gave to everyone she knew.

Amanda's parents also run award winning Nurseries in the Hunter Valley. This has given us a great head start to building our micro nursery and an excellent platform to supply quality, locally grown stock.
