Zena O'Connor is an evidence-based colour design and research consultant. A trained designer with extensive experience in design and research, Zena is one of a handful of people with a PhD that investigated the interface between colour and human response. Zena established her consultancy in 2006 and works on a diverse range of projects: evidence-based colour strategies, colour insight and validation, environmental visual literacy and colour for branding and interior design. Clients are diverse and include Aevum Limited, Art Gallery of NSW, Arts Health Institute, Arvida Group, Auckland District Health Board, Auckland City Hospital, Bonds Coates Patons, Bupa, Dept. of Public Works, Hexham Textiles, ING Communities, Juvenile Justice NSW, Klein Architects, Lifemark Design NZ, Macquarie University, Museum of Contemporary Art, National Textiles, New Zealand Health Design Council, Norna. AI, North Sydney Council, Porter Novelli, Powerhouse Museum, Resene Paints, SBS Television, Sydney Design School, Speedo Swimwear, Taylor Fry, University of Sydney, University of NSW and numerous private clients. With Naomi Shaw and Nadine Donazzan, Zena established The Colour Collective in March 2017 to support and initiate creative, game-changing activations in design, branding, architecture, art and industry.
