December, shortly before Christmas. I went in looking to get a set of 3 vases. I settled on 2 that I liked - one black, one white. But I couldn't find a third in grey that would match and complete the set, so wasn't going to go ahead with the purchase. No worries, the saleswoman says - she can put in a request to the workshop to see if they'll make one of their vases in grey.

Meanwhile, she says I should just buy the two other vases and see how they work in my home - and if I don't like them, or the third vase in grey isn't possible, I can just return the vases for a refund as long as I don't put water in them.

So I buy the two vases. In January I receive a message that the workshop won't do any vases in grey. So I bring the 2 vases back to the store to return them.

But no, they don't do refunds. The saleswoman checks with another salesman. Never mind that she told me otherwise. They only offer credit notes.

Then she says not to worry, the credit note doesn't expire. I can redeem it any time, she assures me. But this time, I ask to get this in writing, signed and with her name... Just as well, as the credit note states it's only good for a year. She lied again, but at least this time I have written proof.

So don't rely on anything the salespeople tell you here - get everything in writing. They lie. Outright.

Dinosaur Designs is reliably good. It's a great place to grab a gift and the store is always immaculate and they always have something new to see. Their wrapping is meticulous and they are my new go-to place for great cards (it's a small selection, but they are super cool). Always reliably excellent!
