Dr Phil Loxley
Phil has been in General Practice in Sutherland for 25 years.
He is interested in all aspects of General Practice. Phil is a Vocationally Registered Practitioner, which means that he is committed to continuing medical education.

Dr Richard Hurst
We would like to welcome, Richard, to our practice. Richard also works in general practice at Kogarah, and he is vocationally registered. He will be working Wednesday and Thursday, both mornings and afternoons.

FEES
Fees (As at 1 November 2012)
Standard Consultation
Payment at time of consultation $58 . 00 (Medicare Rebate $36. 30)
Long Consultation
Payment at time of consultation $92. 00 (Medicare Rebate $70. 30)
We will continue to bulk bill all old age pensioners and children, including full time tertiary students.
We are online with Medicare Australia. This means that we can submit your claim online and payment can be sent to you by cheque or deposited directly into your bank account. If you would like the payment put into your bank account you will need to provide us with your BSB number and Bank Account Number.
If you have any concerns about our fees please feel free to speak to Sue about this. To make payment easier we provide full Eftpos facilities.

APPOINTMENTS
We operate an appointment system where we encourage patients to ring and make an appointment. We are constantly revising this system to try and enable quick access to doctors for all patients without excessive waiting times. This is fraught with the difficulty of not knowing in advance how long each consultation will take, or how many emergencies will need to be fitted in throughout the day. Our greatest concern is that our patients should be able to see us when they are unwell.
At all times we will try to fit patients in to see the doctor of their choice at the time requested but at some times this is not possible and patients may be given another time or doctor. We are displeased that when patients are at their most needy they may be turned away or asked to wait too long to see their doctor.

REFERRALS AND WORKCOVER CERTIFICATES.
The doctor is the best person to advise the most appropriate specialists for you to see regarding your medical problem. To ensure the best care you must see the doctor for a referral before seeing a specialist. It is illegal to back date a referral so please ensure that you have a current referral before seeing the specialist. Most referrals only last 1 year so if you are seeing a specialist for ongoing care please ensure that your referral is current when you make an ongoing specialist appointment.
Workcover Certificates are legal documents and therefore can only be issued when a consultation /examination is made.

TELEPHONE CALLS
The doctor may be seeing patients when you call so you may be asked to hold and speak with him /her between consultations. Alternatively you can leave a contact number and we will get back to you at the end of the consulting session.
If your problem is about a medical condition, it is best to make an appointment to discuss this with the relevant doctor so that a proper assessment can be made.
If you require pathology results these can sometimes be given over the phone. You may be required to return for a further consultation to discuss results if the doctor requests this.

YOUR PRIVACY
This practice is committed to providing confidentiality in the management of your personal health records. It is our policy to maintain security of your personal medical file at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of our staff. Due to the amendment of the Privacy Act (Dec 2001) it now requires all medical practitioners’ to obtain consent from their patients to collect, use and disclose that patients personal information. as a result of this amendment patients may be asked to sign a consent form if we need to obtain notes etc from other medical professionals. This practice has a Privacy Act policy which is available for all patients to read.
