Dunphys Camping Area
Reviews
Best free campground one can find, obviously it has little facilities but the views are excellent
Nice clean camping area. Nothing particularly spectacular but nice, and there are some hefty walks starting from here. Getting here takes some effort. It's a big space but only one toilet although it's a good one. Lots of picnic tables and bbq facilities.
Basic campsite in a beautiful area
Great area well maintained. Toilets, bbqs and camping. Great spot.
This is an awesome intermediate camp ground. Has a toilet, 2 gas bbqs and water point. 2WD will get there on the windy dirt roads. (Wouldn't recommend when wet). Beautiful views and great atmosphere. Free, but donate to prive land owners
First camping in Australia was in Dunphys. Getting there takes a while but views are great. Place is sorrounded with very nice bush walks.
Really nice spot with toilets and free barbies.
Dunphys Camping Area is a free picnic area and campsite, right at the end of the Megalong Valley. You need to pass through three gates to access it, and there is an optional donation box at the last property which goes to the owners of the property. Camping and picnicing is free. Facilities include campfire sites, a level grassy area, a pit toilet, and rainwater from a tank which cannot be regarded as drinking water without treatment. There's a great view, and it makes a very pleasant overnight stop. It's also used as a car park by bushwalkers undertaking walks in the remote Wild Dogs mountains.
