Our annual Australia Day party is coming up, and it's one of the most fun services at Earl's. The thought about the actual date has been on our minds for a while now, and we have decided to host our event on Friday 27th January. Australia as a whole has only been celebrating a public holiday on the 26th since 1994. Indigenous Australians have used this date since 1938 as a day of mourning to mark invasion, just a few years after the very first Australia day. So our decision ...was made based on being sensitive to that issue, and really what is so special about Jan 26th? If we see ourselves as a colonial outpost for the British then fine. But if we see ourselves as a "vibrant multi cultural nation" and we want to regard indigenous culture as a core part of our identity, then it makes no sense. We can still celebrate everything we love about our country, and have a day off with our mates on a day that includes all Australians, most importantly the first Australians. More details to follow.

Australian Bar Week is coming right up, and one of the cooler events that week is the Indie Tasting at Frankies Pizza on Sunday 18th September. This is a great way to see and taste the growing number of small, artisan brands that are making waves in the spirits industry. Plenty of international stuff plus a big focus on locally crafted booze, including our good mates at Poor Tom's. Go show some support!

Night spoilt by the bouncer that was clearly suffering from a little Hitler complex.

He decided that a completely sober Me was too drunk to enter the establishment. I laughed at his amusing joke and went in only to be told by the house staff that I had to leave as the bouncer thought I was drunk.

Now it was clear that the establishments owner, manager and staff that I was not drunk but decided the little shit bouncer was right.

Now if I was angry drunk I would have swung for the idiot

If I was happy drunk I'd have said fair enough and gone on my way. But I was neither, I was sober and dug my heels in.

This caused a scene and angry loud voices happened. Who caused the scene me or the bouncer that invited me outside to "see who the hard man is"

Well done Earl your staff are shit
