The NSW Government has extended the FREE testing for loose-fill asbestos in pre-1980 homes located in Greater Newcastle, including Maitland City, Cessnock City, Port Stephens, Newcastle City and Lake Macquarie City local government areas.

Fairfax Domain Group data released on Thursday shows Port Stephens is leading the Hunter price boom with a year on year increase of 16 per cent followed by the Upper Hunter with an increase of 15.9 per cent.
Newcastle recorded year on year increases of 7.9 per cent, Lake Macquarie 6 per cent and Maitland 5.9 per cent.

Changes to GST payments at settlement From 1 July 2018, purchasers of new residential premises or potential residential land are required to withhold an amount of the contract price and pay this directly to the ATO as part of the settlement process.
The amount of GST will not change.
