About Eastside Veterinary Emergency & Specialists

An emergency & specialist vet hospital in Sydney's eastern suburbs. Open 24 hours, 365 days a year - caring for pets when they need it most.

Eastside Veterinary Emergency & Specialists Description

EVES works in association with many local vet practices - we aim to complement, and be an extension of, the care provided by your local family vet.

Located in Rose Bay Sydney, the hospital was established to provide vet care for pets 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We are open when your local vet is closed and offer access to vet specialists and surgeons so you can always access the best medical care for your pet.

In 2013, we expanded our range of services and now offer medicine and surgery specialist appointments (by referral from your local vet) each weekday. We can provide a variety of services such as consultations, medications, x-rays (radiographs), ultrasound, blood tests, urine tests, surgery, sedation, intravenous (IV) fluids and hospitalisation just to name a few!

We have veterinarians and nurses on site all day, every day, to provide the best care for your pet. If you are concerned about your pet, or feel your pet needs to see a veterinarian, then please call our experienced and caring staff for advice.

Otherwise, if it is an emergency then please come directly to the clinic and we can see your pet immediately.

Brought my ill cat in late at night, got quick and friendly service as well as a follow up email listing details on the visit and what to do for continued treatment. Very grateful, thank you!!

We wrote this on EVES Facebook site, but also thought it important to post on Google as well to let people know of the great support we received from EVES...

We would like to thank the wonderful team at EVES for their care of our beautiful beagle Sarmsee before he passed away this week.

We needed to admit him to their care late on Saturday 22nd October after some serious issues - either a gastric blockage or a tumour (which it turned out to be) that was making him very ill. Our regular vet referred us for 24x7 support.

The new location of EVES in Rosebery (I think they moved over from Rose Bay about 3 weeks ago) is impressive. The consulting rooms and animal care area (which they were more than willing to let us go to) were spotless. It was also wonderful to be able to spend any amount of time we wanted with Sarmsee during his stay in a special “family” room, while he was still able to do so.

Devastatingly, Sarmsee developed progressive complications after a very long surgery Sunday evening – and his health continued to decline, despite the best efforts of everyone at EVES. On Tuesday evening, after an emotional call from Dr Claire, we had to take the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make, to relieve him of his pain and be with him during his last moments.

We think the nursing staff were amazing in their 24x7 support of Sarmsee during the time of his stay. Constant monitoring, injections, feeding, occasional walks, and lots of calls and requests from us were never any trouble. We popped in a day or so later (everything has been a bit of a blur) after Sarmsee had passed to handle the financial aspect, and we saw two nurses caring for a Cavapoodle(?) puppy who was recovering from anaesthesia. They had carried him very gently to the coffee machine to monitor him while they grabbed one, rather than be away for a minute or two!

We would like to acknowledge three special vets who EVES are very lucky to have:
• Dr Michael - who was so open, honest and compassionate about Sarmsee’s condition whenever discussing options with us
• Dr Beatriz – for her valiant efforts in trying to remove the tumour from Sarmsee’s intestine, and also noticing the other potentially cancerous areas as well
• Dr Claire – who guided us through the most difficult night in our lives, in such a caring manner

The whole team, including reception staff, have also been wonderfully caring and helpful during the grieving process.

You can see that the EVES staff love their work, and love the animals they are trying to save. While Sarmsee was not able to pull through, we would recommend EVES to any “mum or dad” of a beloved pet wanting to get the very best care possible.

I’ve thought it would be nice to attach a photo (different from Facebook) of Sarmsee aged 11, not too long before his passing. Such a handsome boy (but we might be a little biased!)

Thank you again from both of us
Darren and Madelanne

Thank you to Dr Foster for helping me and my cat Penelope manage her constipation issues. A 'regular' cat is a happy cat (and owner)!

i wouldn't hesitate in recommending Eastside Vets to anyone seeking specialist or emergency care for their pets.

This response is in response to the vet clinic. Our family have had dogs in Sydney for over fifty years. Ranging from rescue dogs, which Dean Martin was, to pedigree Briards French Sheep dogs. In that period of time we have known many vets some very good at their job some not so good. But we have never known such an expensive money hungry vet clinic.
For the amount of money they charged and the tests they performed the vets should have done better diagnoses than just guessing what was causing Dean's decline.
Some of the vets were nice and did try to be helpful but Adrian was quite nasty and awful.
We don't ever want to be in this awful position again. This experience has left us too traumatized and frightened to get another rescue dog to try to give it a better life.

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. Absolutely everyone with whom we interacted was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and caring. Our dog underwent major surgery at Eastside, followed by a week of follow up care. The initial treating veterinarian quickly identified our dog's medical problem and patiently walked us through all of our options. The surgeon, who rushed to the clinic late on a Saturday night to perform the emergency surgery, was extremely skillful and maximized our dog's chance of survival. The staff who performed our dog's follow up care provided us with consistent updates (including photos of our baby) and left us feeling assured that our dog was in the very best hands. I truly have nothing adverse to say about Eastside Veterinary Emergency & Specialists. I highly recommend their services.

We relied on the services from Eastside Vet Emergency in April 2017 after our dog suffered an anaphylactic shock following a bee sting. The team at EVE did everything they possibly could for our dog and managed to bring him back from an extremely critical condition. He had to spend a whole week at EVE and the care he received was simply astonishing. The whole team has been so professional, dedicated and competent - our dog couldn't have been in better hands at such a critical time. During his time at the hospital, the team was also always very accomodating for us to visit our pet and to answer our questions, regardless of how busy they were which also was extremely appreciated.

Both Dr Suzanne and Dr Liz have looked after my Chihuahua when she was sick. They took the time to explain to me their treatment plans, answer my questions and made sure I understood what was going on with my dog both times she's been there. They were both kind, efficient and professional.

Nurse Angela and Nurse Hayley both seemed genuinely caring and interested in my dog and made her visits more comfortable.

As a wildlife carer I have been going to your vet surgery for over 5 years and I am so impressed with the professional & respectful attitude all the staff give to me and the animals that I have brought in- often you might be busy or it's late at night but the vets have always seen them. There have been miracles happen- you give it your all. The vets will often call and speak with me to let me know what has happened. Thank you for your ongoing support, it is much appreciated.

Absolutely fantastic experience! I took my dog in to be checked because she wasn't eating any food and generally had no energy. The very friendly nurse, Sarah, went through all the relevant questions and explained the process to me very clearly. She was so professional and made me feel very calm in a stressful situation. I immediately felt at ease and knew my dog was in the best hands. Luna is healthy and happy now, I am very glad I choose EVES and would recommend it to anyone to has a pet they love dearly!! Thank you!!!
