Whenever I want to show visiting friends good food in Sydney I pick El bulli. The staff are amazing, the food is so good (make sure you have the calamari) and the live music on the weekend awesome.

Hosted my birthday there and everyone had a terrific time. The tapas were delicious and plentyful for the group, and we had lots of fun dancing to the band. Great atmosphere planning and set up. Planning the group booking with El Bulli staff was easy.

It's not the best tapas in town it's true, but they have an extensive menu where everything tastes good, sangria is good, reasonably priced and nicely decked out creating a good ambience. Good for a group who want to just hang out and eat tapas as the Spanish do... slow and steady over the course of the evening washed down with good sangria in a hustle & bustle environment.

I think it's the worst restaurant I've been to in Australia. Upon arrival, the staff in charge of receiving the customers, treated us with rudeness. We were a pretty big group celebrating a friend's birthday and I thought it was a nightmare for her. They do not provide the client with ease: it turns out that we had to ask for a set menu to be able to order what we wanted, however, they do not do split bills, ok let's say that can be considered but the most correct is that they provide the client with their form Of payment ... that is not the case. The point is that we ordered a paella which took 2h 10m to get to the table. We wanted to cancel because we were no longer hungry, the manager's rude said we had to pay the bill because otherwise they would call the police. I think it doesn't seem fair to me that we have to pay a plate that because of them we couldn't eat. Nevertheless, ONE OF MY FRIEND FELL HAD FOOD AND HAD TO VOMIT, HE SICK AT ALL. A lousy restaurant and poor customer service ... oh and I forgot something, can ruin your pocket.

Please get the managers some customer service skills, big group bookings this is the wrong place to go!!
A misunderstanding that could have been resolved in two minutes end up in the biggest drama for my birthday.
In a normal restaurant you try to work things out with the client if there is a mistake or a problem...not here.
The manager got so frustrated at me just because his own waitress doesn't know how to do her job. She took individual orders instead of set menus (Thing we didn't know) and I was supposed to change the whole table orders to help out the restaurant not the other way around.
He made me order a set menu for the remaining people on my table which i did to fix the whole situation and guess what the last plates came two hours late when everybody had already finished their meal. We didn't want to have it….well surprise!!...nope we had to have it because you cannot cancel orders.
Even though it was my birthday and having the chance to make the night smoother with the whole situation they were just worried because in a booking for 20 people one person walked out and didn't want to pay a Paella out of a $700 bill. Thats LOW and GREEDY!!...And just to finish up three people on the table got sick and vomit…
So are you planning your birthday?? no dramas... come to El Bulli they will create them all.

Very bad experience here. Not recommend for a big group if you are going to celebrate a birthday or a special night. They can ruin it. They are very unorganized. We went last night they mixed the order up and gave us wrong plates. After waiting 2 a hours for a paella my friend decided to cancel it, but he was told he can't cancel an order so he has to wait, then my friend told them he would not be paying for that dish because after 2 hours he had to leave, but they brought the dish after all. My friend told them to take the dish from the table because he is not having it after 2.5 hours waiting, but the waitress left it there without listening my friends words. The paella was not touched. When we were leaving a waitress came with few plastic containers to put the food in without asking, so we said again we are not paying for it. Anyway manager cames after we asked several time to talk with her and was just rude and did not even apologize for all the mistake, even though her own waitress explain that was their fault. She told us that she was going to call the police if we were not paying the $30 for that plate, after spending more than $700 in total. They are very rude and no customer service at all. The manager Pauline definitely is not a manager. I work in hospitality. I will never recommend this place because it is not guarantee that you will have good times.

An excellent selection of authentic Spanish food, along with the exceptional ambience to the place! The live flamenco music on Friday nights made my visit extra special! The selection of satisfying fresh sangria flavours are also a must to try! 5 stars for sure!

El Bulli is a gem of a tapas restaurant. The food and service are great. The atmosphere is generally buzzing and is fed by a live band.

Great food. Awesome sangria. Lovely Spanish speaking staff. Definitely coming back.

We came here on Saturday night on a whim! Was especially attracted by the 'live music' promised. Loved it! We ordered stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta (yum and fresh), chorizo and gnochhi - all delicious! Would probably order some salad on the side or swap out one of the dishes for a bit of freshness - other than that yum! Bit expensive but expected I guess given location and Sydney in general. White wine strawberry and mint sangria - delicious and gave us a lovely happy buzz! Loved the happy live music and had so much fun having a little espanol jive to it ;) really enjoyed our night and highly likely we'll be back :)

Food was delish. Service was good. Would go back for sure. The empanadas were super tasty and the serving sizes were larger than other spanish tapas restaurants.
