From Our Kitchen To Yours

The story of El Mercado’s beginnings is a simple one. Two young Australians with a love of food just couldn’t find what they were looking for, namely, delicacies from their homeland, Spain.

And so started a 4 year journey of travels to Spain and Italy in search of the finest olive oils, vinegars, meats, and cheeses. The two friends’ journey led them to open El Mercado in mid 2009 as a way to share their range of over 200 hand-picked gourmet products with the local community.

Visit the deli, conveniently located just outside the city in Mortlake, to shop or to sit and enjoy a snack and coffee. Or, explore the site to learn more about our online shopping and delivery options. The website will also feature recipes of the month, contributed by famed Sydney-based Spanish chef, Miguel Maestre.
