Just in time for Rosh Hashanah our garden is nearing completion!

With only days to go until Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Rafi Kaiserblueth is making sure his eldest son Toby is ready to step in should his Shofar-blowing skills fail him.

In preparation for our Selichot service last Saturday night, the clergy together with performers Aliza Waxman and Ben Adler gather in the gallery.

Especially for this time of Selichot... Enjoy this lovely and lyrical combination of two famous piyyutim–one to open and one to close the High Holidays: for Selichot, Avinu Malkeinu (אבינו מלכנו) and for the close of Yom Kippur, El Nora Alila (אל נורא עלילה).

An exciting announcement for our service Selichot - Turning to the Divine: joining Cantor George Mordecai, other musicians and our clergy will be the renowned Llew Kiek, one of the key contributors to “world music” in Australia. Join us this Saturday night from 9:00pm.

In 1990, when Ayala Katz was 29 years old and the mother of a seven year old boy and one year old girl, Ayala lost her first husband Rami Katz z”l when he was accidentally killed in an IDF training exercise referred to as the first Tze’elim Disaster. Five years later, she married Gilead Shenhar and together they raised a daughter and the five children from their previous marriages. On August 1, 2009, Ayala lost her 26-year-old son Nir Katz z”l in a shooting at the Bar Noar,... a centre for LGBT youth in Tel Aviv where Nir worked as a volunteer counsellor. Following Nir’s death, Ayala was invited to become the Chairperson of the LGBT parents’ support organization, Tehila.
Ayala will speak about the Bar Noar shooting and how it lead her to be involved in the LGBT community in Israel: Nine years of commemoration, of grief, of great joy and meeting people from all spectrums of the rainbow, of giving birth to new projects and programs to help the well-being of people in the LGBT community, of Pride marches, of being proud of herself, her son and her new-found family, alongside the grief and the understanding that pain is a healthy and important aspect of life.
