WHY WEIGHTS? 👯‍♀️ Lifting weights is not only a guys thing, even you LADIES can do it too! If we had a dollar for every time a new client asked us “will I get get bulky doing weights, should I just come to the cardio sessions?”... we’d have a lot of dollars and extra waters in the fridge. 😝
The myth that you’ll get bulky, is just that.. a MYTH! If you still hold this opinion I’m afraid it’s purely because of a lack of knowledge you have about strength or conditioning training.... Having the right balance of strength and conditioning training alongside the right diet will actually get you leaner and ‘toned’ rather than ‘bulky’.
Here are some of the main reasons we incorporate resistance training;
• enhance mood and decrease stress levels. • lead to better and stronger movement. • improve body composition by building lean muscle and reducing body fat. • empower you to perform movements you might not have had the confidence to do unsupervised. • improve posture and reduce back pain. • burn more calories than traditional types of cardio. • decrease the risk of conditions like osteoporosis and arthritis. • build a body that is more resilient against injury when you choose to live an active lifestyle.

The F45 Menai fam took part in their first Sutherland to surf this morning and the sore legs are real! 11kms is not only exhausting physically but also takes a toll mentally. To say I’m proud of our team is an understatement. . Congratulations to all that took part in today’s Sutherland to surf! Everyone who participated did their best and we couldn’t be prouder! How lucky are we to have all four Simpson family members training with us here at F45 Menai.... Mumma Sue (missing from this pic), Dad Mark, daughter Bec and son Blake. Winter can be the most difficult time to train especially for our early risers! It’s cold, it’s dark and it’s wet but we’re not going to let any external factors control our motivation and wellbeing! . ➖Set some goals and keep yourself accountable over the next 8 weeks and let’s smash them out👊🏼 . Steer clear of comfort foods and be sure to ask one of the team any questions surrounding nutrition or training throughout these weeks!

And so the grind begins!! The next 8 week challenge is only 3 sleeps away. Who’s with us? . Here’s to us! Heres to ordering a salad when you really want a burger. To drinking more water than seems humanly possible. To lifting just a little heavier on weights days. To saying “screw you” to the old you. To falling in love with the you who you want to become. To looking in the mirror and not seeing any change, throwing on your gym shoes and working out anyway. To looking in the mirror and seeing major change. Here’s to spinach and shin splints, and sweaty tshirts and perseverance, and muscle aches, and stinky socks, and 5am, and Hollywood classes, and falling down, and getting back up, and Joel, Kizz Hayden and Phil. Here’s to getting up every day and doing it all over again!

Excited to announce one of our beautiful mum’s has safely delivered her baby. Dee has been at the gym working hard up until the final moments! FOCUS - Pre training//Life//Mindfulness: • With a focus on mindfulness and health more than ever it is important to make time for ourselves and achieve what we want in all aspects of life. • This is particularly relevant to training, especially weight training. We can all agree that it doesn’t matter what we are doing in life if we aren’t 100% focused on what we are doing we won’t get the results we want. ... The gym is no different, taking 5-10mins to just think about what you want to get out of the session will give you the focus and intensity needed to reach your overall goal. • We have all had those days when we roll into the gym off a bad sleep or a bad day at work, mind is all over the place and we waste the 45mins we are training for because we aren’t concentrating. So for the next two weeks I recommend giving this a go: • Forget everything that’s happened throughout your day, (good/bad) and for 5-10 mins think about what you want to achieve out of the session. Eg. get more reps on a certain weight of certain exercise/ lift more weight/ finish the whole session, lionhearted points. • This doesn’t mean you have to crank up the music all the way up in the car or be full on serious and not talk to anyone when you get to the gym. The 5-10 mins can be used on the way in the car or while you are warming up after you’ve looked at the session while still having a laugh and getting around everyone in the class. • Everything is connected in life and when you can focus and bring real intensity into your training that will flow over into other aspects such as work and dieting.

• CONSISTENCY IS 🗝• . Forget motivation, focus on consistency. When the alarm goes off, say to yourself “This mornings F45 session might be awesome, it might be mediocre, it might even be crap. It doesn’t matter. I’m just going to show up.” If you keep making small consistent steps and show up day in, day out, you’re gonna make progress - it’s inevitable!
