Today we pay our greatest respects to the 412 emergency workers, including 343 firefighters, who lost their lives trying to save others in New York City on September 11. We remember them today, we will remember them tomorrow, and they will never be forgotten.

The card in this picture (taken at the Museum of Fire, New York) reads, "Lt. Richard Smoukas, of the FDNY photo unit lost his camera as he fled to safety during the collapse of the South Tower. Three weeks later the camera was recovered by fire marshals amidst the rubble in the debris field on West Street. The camera was returned to the FDNY photo unit. Miraculously, the film survived intact, was developed and printed." The photos, behind the camera, are from that film.

The bush fire danger period began yesterday for an additional 60 LGA's. 49 of these areas are starting one month earlier than normal due to the on going dry conditions. Use the weekend to prepare your property and discuss your survival plan for the season. #NSWRFS @FRNSW @OEHmedia

Despite the warm weather earlier today it's forecast to get cold tonight. Remember to keep your things at least one metre from your heater. Stay Safe
